F75 Sensitivity

If you will dig some of that trash, you might be surprised what lies below,
if you have the time, and it's an an old park. My partner and I have dug every signal above
iron in some places, and yes, its a lot of work, but it was worth it. Try to concentrate on a
certain area that has/is giving up more goodies. And we picked up every piece of metal we saw.
My partner picked up a screwcap and then scanned getting a quarter signal; 3" down he
pops out a '32D quarter [I could have cried because I walked over it]-look that up in the RED BOOK:thumbup:

ok!..i understand!..thanks!

it does immensely!..any info that helps hunt the junk is appreciated!..seems to get excellent depth on "copper" at 8" with lower gain!.would get the impression that "silver" could be detected maybe much deeper as silver,of course,IS a better conductor!..thanks!

I think it may hit Silver dimes at the 9 10 range and quarters at 11 at least.. with higher sens using the same 6" coil. It hits real hard on SIlver. A different and louder sound.
I will try the 11 " coil Sunday in an open yard area..Let you know how it went...It should be very deep.....Well I hope it will be..I can dream right??.
I know this it's an awsome machine............But you have to learn it's operation. Not that it is hard..It's just different from other detectors. It acts and reacts very differently than most other detectors............Yea..thats a good way to put it..

You are right about the All Metal Mode, but it takes for ever to hunt a Civil War camp site at is covered with iron. Is there anyway to get around the iron in the All Metal Mode?

Not that I know at the moment.

What I am doing to eliminate Iron is detect in JE, no discrimination, two notches.
It gives me a quiet mode and the falsing Iron can be checked in All Metal for a better iron ID. That is a new method for me as I was just all-metal, and in a trashy area it is busy. I do not mind the extra activity because I am practicing for a location that will have iron. I wish to ignore iron and find good targets that read in at the low iron numbers at distance and on up in ID. There will not be as many targets either way in most locations so I am honing my skills in IDing iron at the machine.

The good signals I am looking for makes every report important and worth investigating. This is where the F75 is superior and stands apart from the others. In the all metal mode you will hit targets that are invisible to other machines, guarandamteed.

So, in JE: some iron will false up in ID with jumpy numbers and poor repeatable qualities while in
All-Metal: The Iron targets will show lower numbers .
watch the FeO meter and Iron content.

If you have a low number from say 6 and up a with no Iron in the FeO scale, DIG for non ferrous targets.

Look for good repeatable qualities but a target that is just on the threshold of iron or any target in question, go All-Metal Mode for more info.

These low numbers are for native Gold and lead. Silver coins are at the other end of the spectrum with large ID numbers.
Now,.......
Remember native Gold is alloyed with silver and copper and in all kinds of combinations. Not every alloy reads the same, but generally do. The size of the target, distance, it's alloy and the density (all gold or gold/quartz) determines the ID (chemical leeching too). Because of that you can get a target that reads high numbers like falsing iron gives.

So that is why I am consumed with low number target ID. Falsing Iron and Gold or lead can act in similar ways at the machine, I have to interpret the target and decide what to dig.

That is the tricky part but the F75 and the FeO meter make this machine a new Benchmark in detecting equipment.

I have gone back to trash heaven..I can now say for certain at 45 to 48 on sens you will hit copper cents at 8"..I dug 7 at that depth, and a couple were about an inch more..but not a solid hit kinda choppy..You knew it was a good target..but meter reading dropped down to 59... and sound was not as good.. I might add they were all encrusted in a green heavy patina..

that's fantastic xlt!....one hell of a detector!..if you are getting THAT kind of depth on "copper",then nothin' will hunt better in the trash!.with that kind of depth on a "lower" conductor like copper, then who knows the depth you will get on "silver" a MUCH better conductor!..gotta be a "great" detector!

The couple I have hit really banged in loud and clear...I am not sure if the Silver will hit deeper than the slighly larger copper coins or not..and I am kinda stuck on this 6" elliptical coil...Boy is it light and works well..I need to use the 11 inch more.....I wish in a way Fisher would make a 8" concentric coil though.. And I intend trying the 11 DD in this trashed area just so I can see if it will work, or not..It will take very low sensitivity I would think. I also think maybe the 11" will cut through the trash at maybe a little deeper..But I can't say for certain yet..Vlad seems to think it will, and that man knows a bunch about detecting..

or I got one thats not as sensitive as some..But my depth seems very very good..
I just wish I had better places to detect..No real great areas that one could find all the old old coins that I can run across.

I am not complaining..This F75 is finding coins where I could not find them with other detectors..Even prior Fishers...So it's doing something well..

Now it's my job to find the real old sights for the 1800 stuff.....I hope !!

With a little patience, I have found the big 11" coil really is pretty darn deadly in high trash conditions. I use both coils, but the big coil does id better on deeper coins, coins past 7" or so. In 3h tones, I carefully investigate all high tone beeps and tics by shortening my swing and increasing my swing speed. This is not what the manual says to do, but it seems to work well for me. I've dug at least 1 silver dime deeper then 7" with the small coil and it sounded good and id'ed 69-71. With the 11" coil I've dug 1 dime at 9" and it id'ed 73 and a silver quarter at a measured 11" and it id'ed 77-78. 4-5" silver dimes with both coils id 73-74, usually, and silver quarters, 83-84. Fantastic Jm tn thanks for the info....... i too amfinding the large coil works well in trash..You just have to use it a little diferently than the 6"...

Good posts!
I will go back to the large coil also, soon.

I wanted to see how small a target of gold the little coil can hit, then work the trash to get better at IDing the rusty and various bottle caps. The iron was fooling me. Good post by Vlad a few back on digging all targets above iron, and I hope to do that soon. Thanks pal. I will ground balance often too.

Got a new GPS and is it cool. PN-20 by Delorme. Xmap 5.2 PRO is the software and I can import aerial pictures, satellite and any kind of map- even a cartoon and index it to be a background while hunting. I got as many as 10 birds in acquisition! This is the closest you will get for a GPS to commercial gear and software.

Sure is exciting this F75 and while it is easy to use, there are more surprises to discover. I have never been as excited about a machine since I got my first BFO 'tector. Hope to do some big game hunting with it in the near future. There will be trash but the FeO meter is what really works for me. Maybe I do not need to run it at 99 but it sure overloads the pop cans and some of the bottle caps. If I can find my camera I will have some pics to post too.

Gotta give the STAT mode another try to see what it does,... if I can tame it! HH Better try it at a low setting so I don't get my hair blown back.
