F75- LCD glow @ night...

Here's a quick picture for those interested...again we are still getting excellent battery life so don't get the wrong idea here. It's even less bright than it came out in this photo & I think I STILL have all the battery "bars" on mine.......

during the day again. It does not even appear lit during the day at all. The glow is only visable in the dark.....
I think it's great, & everyone clamored for a backlight on the T2...

If so where does it ring in at? Foil and pull tab area like most detectors?

I have a Minelab SE and love it for its coin ability but for gold rings and small jewelry its not so good. If the new F75 can do both.....well I think you know where I'm going with this. ha ha

hi bill!
i realize you have NOT had a decent amount of time to analyze and test this detector, however may i ask do you believe at THIS time that the f-75 IS an improvement on everything that fisher has produced PRIOR to this date and time?..thanks!

I would say it's way too early to make that kind of bold statement. Only had it about a week or so.....
could be though?

on gold mainly due to the higher frequency. I don't have lots of jewlery in the house to test with. The Ex- took it all ;) But what I did have left, yes, usually was in that foil/tab area. But, I noticed gold, like buttons, covered a real wide spread on the F75 due to the really wide 16-100 non-ferrous resolution coverage...
This big spread makes notching work well it seems...

yeah!,,sorry kinda like a sandwich question but i was curious about your response!..to tell you the truth,i have seen the pics on it,and it really resembles some plastic toy that captain america might be involved with!..sure does look kinda spacey!.i am sure the electronic "guts" are first class, however still looks like something off the shelf at wal-mart!

regards!

Hey Bill, I was just wondering is it like the glow from a laptop display. If so that would be perfect for me as it would light up just enough when in the deep woods searching cellar holes or on very overcast days, yet not too bright for night hunting.:ninja:

Thanks for all of the info, it's appreciated,

Rich

Here's a pic again showing the marks at the top of the screen....
Notch any group of 5 digits you want up to 65 on the scale....
I like this better than say the typical FOIL/TAB/ZINC type notches that come preset already (& often don't translate right in the field). Here you can sorta create your own...
Say you have a site with pesky shotgun shells that keep reading 26-27 or so and you are tried of digging/hearing them. "Slash" or notch out a 25-30 block. Numbers in that group are now silenced and you can now listen for only the "good" targets. With the "streached out" number system, coins will read far higher than the 20's so there's no risk of missing those. 20's on the F75 is the lower end of the scale & quarters are like 90. This type of notching is something many Coin$trike users wish they had to null the dreaded +51 hot rock region....
HH,
Bill

It's now dropped down a block, but still great battery life. The T2 got more than 40 hours....the F75 seems close, perhaps a tad less due to the backlight. But still seemingly double what I got with the two 9-volt Fishers....
I have always like 4-AA set ups better. Batts are cheaper & last longer...
Bill

and I also forgot to say not just one at a time either. You can create as many different combinations that you'd like. Say a full slash of ZINC (or 10 digits), a 1/2 slash (5 digits) on upper end of TABS, etc. As much or as little as you wish...
Then there's a reset that quickly wipes out all the notch slashes one has set and puts you back to square one again which is nice....

may be a concern to others... I see there is a spread of 20 numbers between nickel and tab. Bill are there 2 notches or 4 to cover that range? Also have you hunting any parks or playgrounds to see where modern square tabs and eraser bands fall compared to nickels?

Thanks Tom

There would be 4 notches in between there if using half "slashes".....
Yes, I have done some school yards/park/beach & square tabs are locking in where they should....
eraser bands...that's a good one. We will test them and see where they fall on the scale. That would be the perfect "pesky" item worth notching for sure...
HH,
Bill
