Ha, I perhaps used some bad terminology. It really wasn't dumbed down from a user standpoint, they tried to make it less susceptible to emi which made it somewhat sparky and chattery. I and some others didn't have a problem with it being sparky, but others did. By adding dst it (maybe) was less affected by emi, but it took a pretty good hit in depth performance and seemingly was a little less sensitive. I know a good percentage of hunters wanted to wrap the F 75 around a tree and gave up on it. That's too bad, as once one learned its language it really was a terrific detector. HH jim tn

One great thing about the newer F-75 Ltd,is the option to turn the dst on or off. Gives one the ability to run it with the chatter,or dumbed down. I'm running mine with the dst on, but I'm still learning this detector and it helps with the frustration factor. So far so good

I have a Deus 2 with 9” coil and 11” coil on separate shafts. I also have an Equinox 900 with just the 10” x 5” elliptical Coiltek.
Now I just ordered a new fisher f75 limited edition, with 11” band 5” coils, with ability to switch on or off DST, and the boost/ cache modes. I had a f75 New edition. I sold it to get the D2.

I think the D2 and Nox 900 are fine and all I need, but I could not get the f75 out of my thoughts. I wanted that machine with its long battery life on 4 AA batteries kept in the car ( except extreme weather times)and its time tested and proven simple VLF capabilities alongside the more modern SMF machines with their factory programs and rich settings the latter which I tend to drastically underutilize.


Truth be told, I also bought it as added incentive to get well enough to detect which I currently cannot do as I’m suffering from cancer largely cleared up but currently suffering temporary lung damage caused be acute autoimmune response to one of the treatments that saved my life. Hope to be swinging again soon enough though - starting with the D2 and WS6 master ( lightest of the lightweights) and my new f75.
