F70 or F75?

Thinking about a used F70 or used F75/T2 for my 19 year-old son. I have an F75 and like it a lot, but haven't used an F70 yet and wanted to solicit opinions from folks who have used both detectors about any performance differences. I'd certainly save some $ if I go with the F70. Thanks for any input .

The F 70 is not quite as deep with the 10" concentric coil. Put the 11" DD coail and it's awfully close, depthwise. If he is a casual hunter I'd go with the F 70. If he is really into it, the F 75 is hard to beat. I have both and the F 70 is a great back up machine to the F 75. You can swap coils, which is nice. I frankly don't use the F 70 all that much. Mostly for totlot or clad hunting. But it will do almost everything the F 75 will do. If money is the issue, go with the F 70.

keep on diggin'

F 75 all the way maybe sell him yours and get a LTD if you can find one

I have used an F70 all season and love its flexiabilities. Ive made many, many good finds with it. I have plans to get either a FDT or if issued soon a new model with that technology in it, because I heard from a friend they go slightly deeper. However if I had to stay with the F70 I could easily do it. If it is a budget issue and you can get one in your range, I think the F70 is a good choice. If your 19 year old looses interest you would have a very good back up machine. Curt O

Although I never got anywhere near the depth claimed by some on my F70 (my F75 LTD goes WAY deeper), I have made some of my best finds with it including my oldest coin a 1841 seated half dime and my best jewelery find a 7 gram 14K gold religious pendant with 2 carats of white sapphires, 2 carats of peridots, and 2 carats of red garnets (Mexican flag colors). It's a versatile machine, and I found that when I got the 11" DD coil for it, that it performed MUCH better. Also the little 5" DD coil was killer on it.

Personally if I were you, I'd buy the F75 LTD, and give your F75 to your son.

Brian
