F44 and the 7" coil strikes 22K gold in the park

It did not take long for the F44 and its 7" coil to find its first piece of gold.
A 22K gold necklace just under the surface of the grass.
The necklace is not hollow and weighs 9 grams.
I had to dig about 5 tin foil signals and about 8 square tabs in order to get it.
I hunted this big 1920's park that I've hunted many times before.
The deepest coin of the day was a clad dime at almost 8" inches.
The F44 and its 7" concentric coil is an A$$ Kickin' combo!
Like I said boyz... go for the gold.! ;)

What a find !!! How did it ID ? I'm guessing it must have been jumpy since the multiple shapes are so irregular. That one find already paid for your F44 !

Hi Mike,

Yep it was jumping around in the 30 to 40 range.
The necklace was making clear distintive beeps however.

On the F44 some junk targets oblong in nature and not round like aluminum shreads for example will cut out.
I don't dig any junk target that sounds like it is cutting out.
A keen sense of hearing is important, but the F44 will let you know when the target is not round.

The rectangular tabs are round on both ends so they always give off solid beeps.
These come in on the I.D. meter at 35 to 45 and I will have to dig all of these for the time being.

When you use a small concentric coil... I've learned to raise and lower the coil a lot.
This lets you size up the target and pinpoint with it without using any pinpoint button.

I like hunting old areas where there are lots of targets to choose from.
And that is where the 7" coil really comes in handy.

Yes Mike 0 to 19 is iron and 20 to 29 is tinfoil and tiny gold rings.

The F44 is very quiet in the iron and it discriminates better in the iron than the multi-frequency machines. i.e. CZ's

If you put a silver dime next to a rusty nail at 8" the CZ's won't see the silver dime and both targets together I.D. as iron on the CZ - I.D. meter.

Not so with the F44 and the other F series single frequency detectors. (they will I.D. the dime as being non-iron)

Of course the trade off is the CZ's will go deeper than the F series detectors.

Having hunted on land using only CZ's since 1993.... I have some sites I need to re-visit.

Still digging, but BFL'd by the Texas Con Artist,, his hunts are sketchy. Diggin n Virginia has been crushing his hunts for 10 years. Running an F75 Ltd, Gold Bug Pro, and a CZ21. Been thinking about getting the Nox and the small coil for our very very very trashy AZ Ghost Towns and railroad camps, but your F44 posts have me thinking about that with the 4" & 7" coils. Also really curious about the Xterra 705 and the gold program Gerry from Idaho posted on YouTube about four years ago. Are you still wading the Lake? I want to start hunting parks for gold more often, but have to be careful. Our soil is so dry and hard that cutting a plug isn't easy, don't want to anger park rangers. Gold will hit $1,500 by the end of 2019. Take care...

There is a guy on EB*Y who is selling 4" concentric coils for the F44 / F5
He has over 4700 positive feedbacks so this dealer is for real.
He lives in Ukraine however the coils might be made somewhere else in Europe like Germany.
I have one coming. They cost $80.00 each that includes shipping. (see photo)

The F44 handles the iron better than my Tesoro detectors. (one of them is an Outlaw)
And it is not bothered much by hot rocks or EM interference.
The F44 and 7" coil will serve you well in the iron.
It will also detect very tiny targets in discrimination mode with that 7" concentric coil.

I've been using concentric coils my whole life and really don't like using DD coils. (they do have their place however)
Concentric coils go deeper, they discriminate better and you can pin point a lot better with them without using any buttons.
If you get into a trashy area then just raise your concentric coil into the air a little bit.

I still lake water hunt some but hunting land is more fun and more of a challenge.
