long time relic hunter with new explorer, would like fellow relicers programs or advice on using explorer for rilics. any input will be helpful. thanks, rick

I would say run that puppy in iron mask -16(all metal),manual sens. as much as you can stand, audio 1(My favorite <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> ) and gain of 7 and dig everything that doesn't read upper left corner.I am pretty sure that any neat iron type signals that you would want as a relic hunter, will read a little lower in the left upper corner.Basically I mean that if it reads way high left,it is more than likely a nail, but if it reads lower than that it might be,like a bayonet or something along that line, old tools and such.Jim can tell you more about where cool iron reads.
Or you can set up a screen like the English Explorer users use.Go into your select screen and clear the screen and then put a check by the nails,it opens up the entire screen and only will disc out nails.Dig anything that reads anywhere on the screen. The picture is what the screen with only nails checked looks like.I only had the sens set to 1 in the house of course.
When Jim steps up to the mic,you can count on what he has to say better than me,cause he finds some kick a$$ relics! I just thought I would add my 2 zincs.Good Luck! You will love it!

Rics got it right pretty much, personally I use either iron mask at -14 or use a clear screen and reject nails and bottle caps.. you may want to use ferrous sounds and dig anything reading higher than lowest iron tone, the reasoon I reject bottle caps is rusty tin reads in the same area and I have yet to see anything good reading in that area solidly.. as for sens in some highly mineralixed areas auto settings seems to get deeper and be more stable then manual.. but for the most part run as high in manual as you can.. the orange soil of Va. auto seems to do better. in high iron I would run fast response but anywhere else you may want to run deep.....
