Explorer SE Screen

I strongly suggest you take a look at the X-Terra70. A great machine with plenty of depth.

I am about to buy either an MXT or an SE. I was favoring the SE until I read these posts. I will be hunting all areas for: coins, jewelry, relics and any gold. So I want agood all round detector that will hunt deep and in all frequencies. Suggestions??
Thanks
Rodney
I had 2 difference Expl.11 and they did the same thing, I was using a x5 coil and it just would freeze up in the trash. That is a lot of money to pay for a detector that half way works. I sold them and got a F75 and it DOESN'T freeze up in the trash, very fast and works good. I would love to have a Minelab, but will not get one until they fix this ID where it will go as fast as the tones.
well when you have a machine that hunts 28 freq. at the same time you have to realize that is a LOT of info to process and since you are not packing a personal desk top computer to do it you would expect it to not be as fast as one ....so is it worth it to you to hunt SLOWER and find MORE quality targets at DEPTH or would you rather go FAST and and just grab clad and jewelry at 6 inches with the OCCASIONAL silver at that depth......up to you i guess...of course a single freq machine is gonna be faster...and i hope you do well with what ever ya use...but the explorer is MY choice of weapons in the field..:yo:

It is frustrating getting a good tone on a target and not being able to get that second confirmation. However, I think its a matter of using the tones anyway. I mean what are you getting from the screen in a trashy area? If i get a good tone i will pinpoint and most of the time if im moveing the SE it starts showing the correct digitial as i move over targets much like the DFX does with DC Phase on. Ive noticed i get a tone even when i dont have a threshold.... are these only amplified targets (targets close to the surface)? I guess thats my biggest frustration in trashy areas. If i turn down my sensitivity and run in fast then i find there really has to be a lot of trash for my screen not to come back. You may get a faster screen with other machines but are you getting anymore depth than what the tone on the SE is giving you? Ive talked to people who are very affective with the Explorer and most are tone hunters... us new guys to the SE spend time trying to NOT dig a target and miss a lot.
