Explorer depth

Is there any other adjustment that gives the Explorer more depth, other than the sensitivity setting? I just got mine 2 weeks ago and love it. Like all detectors the really deep signals have a small response area and can be missed if you're running with it. Just want to know if I'm getting the max out of the machine.

Hello from western Australia,Tony.
You can select deep in the deep/fast screen.Some say hunting in all metal mode helps too.
If you increase the gain setting,really deep targets,with a very weak signal,may be easier to hear.

Some things to try:
- manual sens (versus auto) and/or maximize setting.
- You can also adjust the volume gain to max (ie 10) which might alert you to a very faint signal easier.
- Set the recovery option to "deep".
- use larger coil.
- slow down (both sweep speed and coverage).
- open iron mask up ... just notch out upper left corner (nails) and lower right corner (crown-caps).
Also the Explorer with the Double-D coil has a bigger response area than most other detectors which use concentric coils.
I'm sure others will give you more tips.

I find the best depth running iron mask at -8 though -16 (run 9 mostly), turning up the gain ( I only go to 7 myself)and run the sensitivity in manual at a 26 or above depending on the ground condtions. If in a trashy area I will run fast in recover, if not to trashy and want to go slow then i will go to deep.
When I run the gain higher than 7 it seems like I hear falsing too much, but I see some run it all the way to 10.
