Exciting Find With X-Terra 705

A delightful find Mapper.

Can you recall the ground balance number for the area being searched?

Next time you go there to hunt, ground balance automatically, and make a note of the number, please.

If there is evidence of Fe mineralisation in that locality then it is worth experimentally adding a positive off-set of 5 points.

How do you intend cleaning the coin?

One of the better ways in my opinion, is to use baking powder.(As used by mom )

Take a suitably sized piece of kitchen foil, spread the baking powder of sufficient depth to insulate coin from the foil.

Lay coin on powder and cover it with a similar layer.

Now fold the foil around the contents, and place in a tumbler of boiling water, and leave it for 24 hours. (Bubbles will be produced)

That should remove any soil stains and return a lustre to the coin without damaging it.

In time you may consider buying the 18.5 kHz concentric, if jewelry hunting interests you.

Interesting to read that you have an electronics background, for that will certainly help your understanding of what's going on when the 705 pokes its search flux into the soil and targets.

*****************************

The ALL METAL mode is a very sweet sounding exploratory tool. Just use two tones (Low one is ferrous and the high one is "Please dig me")

So next time you go hinting and make a find in the standard C&T disc mode, tap the AM pad and check the target again, and see if you prefer the cleaner audio.

Until your next welcome post, "All the best"..........TheMarshall.....on the 705 to Utah
