Excalibur or CZ-21

Ausibloke

New member
I am thinking of buying a detector for water hunting, salt water mostly.
I will not be going to deep with it, only around waist deep.
The two machines I am interested in are the excalibur and CZ-21, I welcome any comments on these two detectors.
Being an Ausie I lean towards the excalibur but am willing to try the CZ if it is comparible to the minelab.
The downside for me is the CZ is not available in this country and will have to be imported.
The difference in price will be around $500AU, the most expensive is the Minelab..
Thanks in advance for any advise..

Cheers

Rob..

iv owned both and the CZ's are good detectors and well built but not as deep as the Excal. the .Excal is deeper by about 2" given they both have the 10" coil..the Excal ID is way better than the CZ.i just ordered my 5th Excal and wish id never sold my last one.they are on back order here, hope to get it in about 2 weeks.they both are great detectors .im willing to wait 6 months if i have to.good luck

Interestingly enough I find that the CZ-21 hits a little deeper than my Excal 1000, about 2 inches deeper. I guess it depends on the settings, the conditions and the operator but safe to say these units are comparable in the depth department. Where I find the Excal excels is in the amount of feedback it provides, a lot more tonal info comes back at you because of the BBS technology of the Minelab.
The Excal is my favorite underwater detector but I like my CZ-21 (with 10.5" coil) just fine and in special circumstances I find a PI unit like my Whites DF is just the ticket for some really deep hunting. Either unit will do you proud

Cheers Mate,

The one that have after sales service easily available in your country will be to your advantage in the long term.
The Excalibur have more tonal info, a very handy feature for users with patience.
The CZ-21 is faster to use and have a concentric coil, easier to accurately pinpoint with, if required.
In short both are good units
