Excalibur II leaking?

Hello,
an Excalibur II I bought used is acting up after it's been underwater a while, so I believe it's leaking somewhere.
It will start making a loud squeal every two minutes or so and eventually it stops detecting metal. The threshold still works but it's like the volume is all the way off.
Give it a day and it starts working again.

I don't think you have a leak. That is the noise the machine makes when the battery is almost dead (no charge left). If you started hunting with a newly charged batter and that started happening within the first hour or two you need to get a new batter.

Page 14 of the manual has what the low battery warning does.
If there is water in the pod or battery, by looking carefully through the parts where there are not decals covering the pod surface, you would see some water. Hopefully it is just a battery charge issue and it might need a new battery if it is not holding a charge well. I use an after market charger that senses charge level rather than the Minelab charger that trickle charges for a long time (several hours) to reach full charge. You can get an after market "Intelligent charger" for about $20.
