Excalibur 1 to greyghost phones

I took it to the beach just to see and I have to say it was 100% better ...I'm good at about 1 O'clock and it's still loud. If I open to the highest volume it's way to loud.....makes a big difference thanks again. I'm happy

I got to tell you when I seen all those wires I broke out in a sweat.

I do that a lot, everytime I test a Excalibur after working on it....Normal..and glad you got the HP done... Amazing Job..!!

I thought I was the only one who sweats lol.. I'm anal when it comes to wiring. Man does that really sound off

Just took the transformer out of the headphones on my new set up. Wired it all up and no sound. Un-soldered it and found that the voltage difference was between the red and black wires coming from the detector side. Tied the red and white together then wired the rest up, just twisting wires together this time until I was sure it was working, then soldered. Yes, much more volume. Threshold is not quite as smooth as before working on it, but before I don't think I could have heard the detector near or in waves; now there is enough volume to hear in the wind and waves.
Cheers,
tvr

Good job but you can thank Oldbeachnut !

Absolutely correct! Who would have thought there was a transformer in that little hockey puck of hot glue?

Threshold smoothness came right back when I got away from EMI (further away from the house).

I just do my GG UW for my excal. I tested the wires to make sure both sides of the headphones worked. My wire set up was red+red+ white from speaker. white from machine side to white from other speaker. black to grey....

here is a link to changing the cap on excal to CTX end from Joe
