EZ: I really like those straight shafts but the one's I looked at that would breakdown so I could get it on the plane did'nt seem like they would rigid enough. But I do like the one piece Anderson shafts . If I lived close to the beach I would have one.JMHO :minelab:

My travel 2 piece (3 if you count the lower rod)shaft has no movement what so ever, got it of ebay made by a well known maker, good quality an very well balanced, just put in excalibur rod and you'll find them

I just purchased the 2 piece travel rod by plugger.

You can get a 6 foot 7/8 inch aluminum tube from most marine shops for about $15 (sold as handle for brooms or squeegee). The handle for the shaft from a bike shop (extended handle) I got 2 for $12.00.....Use with a clips, or nylon bolts and nuts to secure the controls and battery to the shaft. Just mark your shaft with a marker using the pod & battery pod, drill, install first, then line up your coil shaft, drill holes about 2 inch apart. You can make a long shaft if your tall, or a well balanced long shaft, or a short shaft for reverse hunting {under the elbow or side pod mount}
Made this travel for my 800, 10 dollars, goodwill, 2 canes..no shifting or shake only use for the 800 though. good luck..joe

Cam Lock From the kane ........used the 800 today in the Bay, no problem with flex or wooble. I'm not sure how this would work on the 1000 since the coil is heavier.....{never really looked for a cam lock, heard Anderson shafts had them, Just looked, none..have you see any other then the stocker?}, ........Joe

IMHO, make one yourself instead of paying someone for it. I made one ten years ago and it's still useable, only difference from todays straight shafts is that you can have adjustable grips. When i first made one 10 years ago i welded my handle to it. Then i decided let's try a balanced straight rod from Anderson's. Well, delivery took long, shaft was toooo short for me, both the arm rest and handle clicked when i used it. Put the anderson shaft aside and made another one. All is good now. My opinion only!!
