Excal service

New member
I just sent my Excal ll in for repair, and got a call from Minelab today, confirming that they got it, and telling me the turn-around time would be 20-25 days. You think?? Should I hold my breath??

Marc

Wow thats a long time .Is that what I can expect if my excal. ever needs repair???? ooofff!!!!!!

Whites turnaround time was like 5 to 6 days.....John

That's the one thing keeping me from buying anymore Minelab detectors, the poor service. I would like to buy an excalibur ll and have saved up enough for it but the stories of poor service stops me from buying. I know of someone personally who sent in there detector and lost almost the whole detecting season waiting on a repair. Almost 3 months before they got it back and then he said it was just thrown in a box not even wrapped up and shipped back to him. I have sent other detectors in for repair, both White's and Tesoro and less than 10 days I had them back. Minelab should take note of what service means.

That's one thing that keeps me from buying an explorer. Also the fact that after 2 years the repair cost is $65 an hour. I'm reading stories about sending in an explorer and winding up with a $600 estimate to fix it. Most of the time tesoro and whites will repair it free plus pay the return shipping. Of course If I was finding rings right and left and lived next to a beach it wouldn't be a big deal.

My plumber gets $95.00 an hour & the clock starts from the shop

Instead of waiting so long, they should just send you out a new one. I know of such company, and it was a water machine.

Probably a Viper or Cobra-can't give those away....

Thats a long time, probably a reflection on how many techs they have working at the repair center.
I called Whites repair center yesterday in VA to see how long the turnaround is and cost for a surf pi I just bought(just to have it checked out). They told me 5 days turnaround/$60 flat rate for repair(labor).

Must be the price of gold and the weak dollar that makes him charge that much. I'm glad I do my own plumbing.

Its been that high for awhile now, before the 2008 reality check:lmfao:

Its part of living in NJ. I do my own also and no longer do it for a living. My two brothers and I are all licensed plumbers, they still do it, I do something else now.
No more crawling under houses:thumbup:

take the time and let them service it, why does it have to always be really quick???never rush a electronics tech or service dept...

I'm not rushing them. After hearing all the horror stories of 2-3 months I was thrilled when I was told 20-25 working days. I'm just worried if it's just wishful thinking.
