excal problem ?

I prefer to use all metal to search then switch to discrim. to identify, the problem im having is when I switch to discrim, it doesnt always pick up he signal. Do I have a problem? Or is all metal deeper than discrim.? thanks

I don't have an Excal but from what I've heard, "all metal" is deeper than "discriminate". HH!

All metal is deeper than disc. I dig down a bit until the disc can see it.

If in all metal and get a signal it could be iron, going to disc. it should just null out the iron and not give a signal.

I have noticed when I flip back and forth from all metal to discrim , i have to turn up the threshold slightly to hear the discrim signal. is that normal? question 2 do you guys turn up the volume to max before you adjust the threshold hum?

the volume knob has nothing to do with the threshold hum, that in itself is a type of volume, the volume knob is only target volume. 80-100%, turning it down slightlyfrom full can help smooth the threshold in all metal

All metal is deeper in most places i hunt too, often changing to disc, not a squeak so i have to take of a few inches of sand and try again, if you get a solid null its usually iron but a null & sound , dig a bit deeper just in case as deep targets at extreme depth can null

When you hear a signal in all metal remove some sand to get closer in Discrimination. If it nulls or you hear no signal in discrimination move on.

The Excal is doing what it is suppose to do........discriminate out iron. When searching in all metal, it reads everything just like a PI......when you switch to discriminated it knocks out metals with iron in it.
