ETRAC VERSES EXPLORER 2

Hey Nuke em, if you want more target info, try using 4 tone ferrous or better yet multi tone ferrous instead of TTF.
I use both with good results in heavy iron and other trash sites. Not sure if the Explorer supports these options though.

The advantage:
with a 35:47 target ID, the multi conductive tone will signal silver
with multi ferrous, the tone will bottom line grunt signalling definite iron

with say a 29:47 target ID which could be a keeper either deep, nearby iron, in mineralized soil or all the above, the TTF tone will signal iron
with multi ferrous, the tone will not be a TTF iron grunt but a tone higher in pitch which might convince to dig. Found many a deep keeper with similar ferrous numbers.

Of course after the tone, verifying the display ID will filter out iron spoofing as silver using multi conductive or TTF but in extremely dense trash sites, multi ferrous allows hunting more by tones. Also tones are more accurate for identifying deep tricky targets than the display ID.... and depending on the sun/display glare, that display is sometimes next to impossible to read at a quick glance.

I dont have the ET now , sold it . Fancied using the Explorer 11 again and with it being a mint condition machine looking new with a Pro coil it had to be the one to keep.
One day i may buy a new ET but i have heard that here and maybe on your side of the pond their price are or have gone up .

Dont they want to sell machines ? cant imagine anyone paying more a Go Find !

I don't think 'they' the marketing suits have a clue over there down under.
Either 'they' ignore us eTRAC user's comments or don't read this forum which i find hard to believe.

'They' apparently put all their marbles in the CTX.
And now 'they' found some new marbles putting them in that entry level GoFind instead of an updated eTRAC-II?
Don't know what that new GoFind detector costs but knowing Minelab its bound to be overpriced.

The Go Find is cheap but when you hold one then you know why , it is entry level in capability but way below that in terms of quality of construction . Easily broken , very flimsy and the entire stem is plastic, no coil cover , plastic coil , though the idea for the stem is good.

My take on it designed and made by a 5 year old for a 5 year old , actually thats unfair 9 year old .

For those who are beep-N-diggers I'd say they probably see little difference between the ExII & ET. For people like myself who are selective in their choice to recover or or not accurate target ID is very important.

Let's face it, if all you're interested in is depth then most all detectors can get the same depth once you dial them in. Some take less dialing than others, but most will hit those deep coins. I've never owned the ExII but I have owned and compared the E-Trac and the CTX. Sure they both get about the same depth but the CTX has a more accurate target ID at a greater depth. I susspect, from what I've read, the same is true between the ExII and the E-Trac. The ExII goes just as deep but the E-Trac has a more accurate target ID at a greater depth. I understand the whole using the tone to tell trash from treasure concept but I've also been swing a detector long enough to know that takes many many hours on a machine to accomplish this where telling trash from treasure by target ID happens out of the box.
