etrac not picking up gold

I think that the Etrac,Safari,Quattro can be as good on gold as any detector out there if the FBS picks the right set of frequenies. But you never know where you are at and you can not set it yourself. When I was at Outer Banks last year all I could find was small gold because I think everthing had been picked over and I mean real small gold with 6X8 SEF.I put pro coil on and could not find any small gold.Put small coil on started to find real small gold and plated fish hooks.Maybe SEF change frequeny selection who knows?

.If I think there could be chance for gold in area I use another detector for that purpose.

which one?
I am looking also to upgrade a friend of mine that retired here in Illinois went out west and he finds about 10 to 20 thousand dollars a year in gold nuggets he was using a 4500 for the first few years but he has been doing just as good with 705 Xterra he thinks it is about as good he knows he is missing some real small gold but he makes it up by covering more area and has found a lot more coins with 705 and alot less effort to hunt with.I am looking also look at AT PRO it is good gold machine also but they are having manufactering problems waiting for them to get problems solved.Waiting to see if Minelab comes out with anything new will make my decision in June.

Garrett. Until the AT Pro Garrett has never really excelled as a super deep machine, although they do well, but they have always been great on gold. One of my buddies has a couple of Master Hunters that kill on small gold.

Fantastic thread, got an Etrac last year and haven't put enough time in with it yet. Maybe 15 hours. Anyone have a good all around cherry-picking pattern for gold and coins? I was just thinking today that maybe the Etrac is just too much and I can get away with a new AT or a 705, but after reading this thread, I think I'm gonna stay with it. Thanks for the thread again.

Hello guys, I can say that I did some testing with the E-trac on a highly mineralized ground in Procida (volcanic island south Italy) and a gold ring
I arrived at 25 cm with a silver ring of 28 cm or more we go, do not hold the coil
too close to the ground the metal behaves better. sensitivity should be increased slowly but nn reach 30 ! to 16 or 19 .. I feel the ring. hope it can be helpful .. obviously recovering deep and fast recovery. greetings from italy.

Just picked up an Etrac yesterday and it works just fine on the below small 14k gold ring. I placed it on the ground in my front yard, and it reads 12 - 09 as it does in the air test. I can lift the coil some 6 - 8 inches and it reads it fine. Disc is set for low end of the ferrous field.
