Nuke, you are probably right. If anything, it'll be a CTX-lite with FBS2 technology.
Updating the eTRAC with a new screen, CTX options, faster processor and other enhancements would not be standing still IMO. As far as Minelab investing in old technology which is alien to their management, the way they act, could be Minelab's management ARE outer space ALIENS from the planet bluto.
I do not have a CTX nor have i ever used one. All i can go by is what people are saying on the forums in regards to eTrac/CTX 'raw detecting' comparisons. Apparently FBS2 technology is NOT a quantum leap over FBS1 in raw detecting power, just marginally better. Is marginally better worth an extra $1500 over the eTRAC?
From what i've read, the CTX has a slightly better depth advantage probably due to its better ID accuracy at depth and other detecting options.
IMO its those CTX options and faster processor that compromises the edge over the eTRAC. So what good is new technology if its only slightly better than the old FBS1 technology?
IMO with all the eTRAC screen complaints over the years, Minelab should of updated the eTRAC years ago similarly as they did with the Explorer. But they didn't and looks like they're gonna squeeze every last penny out of that design then let it die on the vine. Too bad.
All i can say is i wish Garrett would design a hi-end detector on par with Minelab and Deus.
