Etrac II and Minelab 2016

...For me the ET is almost exactly what i want and need but with Minelab moving from FBS 1 to 2 there is no choice but to go with the flow or it will mean Minelab investing in old tech which is alien to their management and will only appeal to a certain few people that want to stick , they will look like other companies that have stood still for years and years....

Nuke, you are probably right. If anything, it'll be a CTX-lite with FBS2 technology.

Updating the eTRAC with a new screen, CTX options, faster processor and other enhancements would not be standing still IMO. As far as Minelab investing in old technology which is alien to their management, the way they act, could be Minelab's management ARE outer space ALIENS from the planet bluto.

I do not have a CTX nor have i ever used one. All i can go by is what people are saying on the forums in regards to eTrac/CTX 'raw detecting' comparisons. Apparently FBS2 technology is NOT a quantum leap over FBS1 in raw detecting power, just marginally better. Is marginally better worth an extra $1500 over the eTRAC?
From what i've read, the CTX has a slightly better depth advantage probably due to its better ID accuracy at depth and other detecting options.
IMO its those CTX options and faster processor that compromises the edge over the eTRAC. So what good is new technology if its only slightly better than the old FBS1 technology?
IMO with all the eTRAC screen complaints over the years, Minelab should of updated the eTRAC years ago similarly as they did with the Explorer. But they didn't and looks like they're gonna squeeze every last penny out of that design then let it die on the vine. Too bad.

All i can say is i wish Garrett would design a hi-end detector on par with Minelab and Deus.

"I think a lot of prayers will be answered in Spring 2017 when they introduce their new coin detector?
What it will be called, what it will look like, what it will do, I don't know but 'Ironsight' might be on the right track with a CTX Lite?"

Id be happy with a waterproof Etrac!

Love my EX2 just for the sounds....much like why etrac guys like the etrac.

Love the e-trac. Yesturday I found a sliver ring that rang up 11-48. Screaming silver. Gotta love that etrac.

Hopefully not another Gofind toy line!

I've had enough waiting and have bought all i need for now . Though a good Sovereign Elite would be good as a back up to my GT.

"Like I have already advised, the penny has dropped in Adelaide and they REALIZE they have lost their prime market share position and are working hard to bring a NEW COIN MACHINE early 2017...the lights are ON 'downunder'!!!! (at last)

You might remember Garrett too 'lost their way' for years and ignored the C & T market but once the lights were switched on in Texas they haven't looked back!

So the Aussie group just might pull their rabbit out of a hat and surprise all of us?" (I hope so)

Wouldn't surprise me knowing Minelab, that new coin detector (if it even happens) would be a GO-FIND II :heh:

Same way Garrett keeps updating their ACE series; first the ACE 150, then ACE 200, ACE 250, ACE 300, ACE 350 and the latest iteration the ACE 400.

'No. It won't be a GoFind 2

They're trying to ignore that $5 Million Dollar mistake.

It'll be a progressive unit possibly a hybrid mix of VLF and VFlex with an active Digital Screen with a new updated Target ID display from CTX
Color screen with Auto Ground Compensation. Waterproof in the current CTX body ( hope I'm wrong on that one?)
Possibly able to utilise a wireless probe pin pointer?

So we might get: CTX 5050 and ProFind 50

I am only interested in a Terra replacement . Dont want anything other than the best we can get for a max £800 . Any more then its a ET replacement and mine has years left in it .
Definitely no to a CTX stem and only need good water resistance . Better tones than the Terra would be nice though.

I have got my Sovereign GT Des , bought an Anderson top shaft and a Nel Tornado and a bracket for the box . The shaft can also be used for my Terra so i can stick my Terra box on the handle and tie the coil to the upper shaft out the way and have two machines in one :) . Tomorrow i will collect my chest waders then i will be ready for the off , at least when i get the chance..
