I just cant recall finding these aluminum rivets with any other machine. They fall through the holes in the scoop and barely can find them. I dont use a pinpointer at the beach. But now I know the number range, 79-81. So if I cant find it real fast, I know its a rivet. Those fold up chairs are real crap. Soo many break real fast. Dont waste your money on these cheap chairs. POC

I set my discrimination to 40 after finding a thin kids gold ring. Cut out all the small foil. Was thinking I hadnt found a stud earring in a long time. Maybe my discrimination was too high.
Nope, nailed one this morning. Everything is junk except for maybe the 2 small disc's. May be silver charms but not marked. The monster ring is a size 13. It had me going for 2 seconds.
It was too shiny to be real gold. My other favorite metal, Tungsten. weighs in at 18g. Could you imagine....

PS Machine is the D2

Nice hunt, even with the rivets.
I do a lot of water hunting in the summer months Sometimes I find a tiny Gold half heart just narrow enough to go thru the scoop. I am out there in the nice cool water waist deep or deeper trying to scoop this thing up. I try and scoop it towards the shore sometimes what seems to be 15 minutes, but I finally get it.
Then on my way back out to where I started I get another hit. It is the other half of the heart but I get it in the small rocks on the second scoop. Patiently I scoop as I know the reward can be great.

Now that takes the patience of a SAINT to push that signal ashore. I cant recall finding something good that fell through the scoop. Always ends up being a small piece of aluminum.

Good for you finding the itty, bitty, gold.

Cheers,

Use to be one of my mainstays. However, since they dumped a billion tons of sand for replenishment, its not worth the money in gas to get there.
I said, Id never see the original beach in my lifetime. Yes, Seaside had been very good to me and most everyone back in the good old days.
I have one particular day which Im sure will never happen again. For whatever reason, coins were washing up like crazy with every wave,
In addition gold chains and rings were also in the mix. We just stood in the wash and as each wave receded, you would see tons of coins and gold.
I think I found 8 gold rings, heavy mans gold bracelet, several chains and a few crosses. It was unbelievable. Unfortunately it was also loaded with rusty nails.
I didnt have a small coil for my Sovereign at the time. It was challenging. It lasted for 3 days and I had a total of 14 gold rings. Those days are burned in my memory,
Never to happen again.

Yes, I USE to hunt Seaside !!!!

Donna, sounds like you had a great 3 days at Seaside Heights. I'm sure I would not recognize any thing up that way. Yes, fill dirt can sure ruin some sites. Over time nature will heal what gets messed up and taxpayers wind up paying for it. Thanks for the response.

The whole boardwalk is different. Both piers were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Then there was a fire at the sound end during renovations. Funtown rides gone. Now there is a smaller south pier with a high end cabana club. Sawmill survived but Beachcomber on the pier gone with the fire. North pier totally rebuilt and expanded out and width. Check out exit82.com

PS There was soooo much sand dumped, Im sure Ill never see the old beach. Plus I heard the replenishment company has a contract to come back every 5 years to fill in, again !!!
