DUMB:cool:...and DUMBER:biggrin:

Its always great to see the "FROZEN" smile on someones face. I've lived long enough in that type of climate to know the "smile" was indeed frozen and became that way as you "gritted" your teeth trying to bust through the frost line. I loved the idea about the frozen snot though. What is it about cold weather that causes the nose to run...even if you don't have a head cold. You don't see Hercules having that problem with that long tongue of his.

Congratulations on your finds guys! Thanks once again for being dedicated detectorists!!!!

I had two hunting buddies who decided to do what you did some years ago. They had found an old school house and had gotten permission to hunt it, but it was mid February here in COLD Minnesota. To cut through the frozen ground, they each took a hatchet and a 5 pound hammer....used them to cut plugs....and a snow shovel to get down to the level of the grass. One of them did manage to find a Barber half...or I should say two HALVES of a half. The ground was so hard, they couldn't tell the difference between cutting into it or into a silver coin, and had cut the half dollar clean in two while digging the plug! Luckily, it wasn't a rare date, and is probably worth more as a story than it ever would have been as a collectible coin.

Man, call you guys what you will but i think anytime you can get out is great. Sometimes you just need a fix even it it's colder than hell out. Finding silver can make it seem a little warmer if you know what I mean. I give you guys a big ''E'' for your Efforts. Thanks for the story and pics. Makes me jealous that I'm not out there. It's you guyys that give me stuff to do til spring gets here. I get to check out sites and pass the winter. Thanks.
