Went to a new permission today for a couple hours. The property is on a fairly good size creek. In February 1864 a small force of Confederates were entrenched here to guard the bridge crossing. When the Union troops, consisting of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Delaware infantry all lead by 3 squadrons of Ohio calvary reached the bridge a battle began. It only lasted a few hours before the Rebs were routed. We were hunting the confederate side today. The Ohio Calvary were the first to engage the Confederates which probably explains the shot pistol bullets. We have permission to hunt the Union side of the creek also. Can’t wait. I reckon there Should be some used Confederate lead over yonder.
