Drop my AT Pro for a White's?

ive used about every brand, old and new...garrett ace 250,350,1350,1500 they were built good but heavy and off balance, did not like the bell tone...teknetics t2se,omega 8000,g2,delta,light, fast, but build quality issues on all but one of the machines...whites mxt,mxt pro, xlt, idx, idx pro, dfx, and now vx3.. these are the machines ive used the most recent..last several years...whites have a very good feel to them for me.. very good balance..and without a doubt have found the most gold and silver with whites..all but one of my best finds were from a whites machine. all had great customer service. the vx3 is my favorite machine ive used..its just works for me.. although it does sound like you are finding the goods.

Weight, balance, and Bell tones were just some of what I didn't like. I will add that I didn't care for the delayed response and preset GB for the higher-mineralized ground where I usually hunt.

I like their light weight and quick response, ample adjustment and display functions, but build quality is what I hear from most people. They use them and comment that they feel they are 'frail' and might break easily. I pamper my detectors, but they sure don't 'feel' solid like a White's.

Spot-on about them having a great 'feel' as they are rugged, they work, and I have also probably found the most good stuff with several of the models you listed (except the DFX) through the years. Even the most quantity of great finds going back to my first factory-built detector, a White's, back in the summer of '68.

The VX3 is also my favorite, among top-end detectors, and it complimented my MXT Pro quite well.

You couldn't be more correct in your general assessment of White's. :clapping:

I know this post is way past the needed point I am sure but I did want to give my 2 cents. You say your club members all have White's and they hunt circles around you. But you have a good detector. Maybe a better detector in other hands in another area. Your club members can have you up and running on a White's in no time. Maybe for what you and your club does in the area you are in White's is the ticket. Why fight the trend when they are clearly in front and pulling away from the sounds of it. Like I said just my 2 cents.
