The FAA is requiring drone registration and working on automatic remote identification of hobbyist drones. I don't have to register my other radio controlled and free flight aircraft ... yet. The auto ID plan is just a plain intrusion of privacy that allows the feds to constantly know where you are when ever you turn the drone on. Supposed safety by legislation ... while taking away freedoms. I get the concerns about someone using a drone for nefarious purposes; but the auto ID thing is just way too much government intrusion.
If I do get a drone to scope out the cuts, I'll have to get one that can auto pilot at a pilot programed altitude and scan the water / beach boundary so as to see the video transmitted back as I detect the beach on my way towards any identified cut. And the display will need to be water proof as I may need to enter the water to detect the cut!

So what would you recommend as far as a drone to scan the cuts at the beach ? As you also have to be careful as they do have low flying aircraft watching the beach also.
