Wondering if many people have hit old or operating Drive-in theaters. If a person wants to learn some about discrimination, these are the places to go. I have found well over $130 in loose change. 6 silver rings and probably missed 3 times that since going there. I was fortunate enough to have access to one the last couple of years. I cleaned allot out with my DFX and this is where I tested allot of different detectors and settings. I brought the V3 there today. My normal program I've been using in the city parks was not working here.
Won't go into great detail but Ended up running @
10 Hz instead of 5 Hz for ground filter, seemed to stabilize the false signals.
30 for recovery instead of 20
Turned RX gain way down to 3 and Disc @ 70. Even though it is low mineralized soil.
These Three things made a world of difference for hitting coin. But still had issues.
So I wanted to share what I found. That in spots there were way too many pop tabs, bottle caps and such to even distinguish a Quarter laying on top of the soil. I Would get broken up readings no matter what I adjusted.
I then set the V3 up to pinpoint with trigger forward like on the DFX. I run Three freq. and have the meter with All Three Freq. bars showing. I basically ran like this with trigger forward and watched the screen close. When I would see the 2.5Khz green bar open more than the others. I'd zero in on the target and find a Cu. penny, dime or a quarter every time. I could not get the machine to verify this while operating in search mode due to the amount of trash around.
Granted this was extreme conditions with trash but I thought this was pretty amazing to be able to search like this with all the trash around. The signal would change within 1/2 inch or so. Using the dx1 probe also helps while digging in these conditions.
Found allot of clad, probably $4 worth, One 1947 Dime and One 1946 Wheatie today doing this at this place.
