Dont forget 15 % for vets from Minelab.

If the 15 percent comes off the dealers profit I would not press for greater discount. I want the dealer to also stay in business and make a little. The starting price of the 800 is low compared to my other detectors. If I pay mid 750 and get free shipping no tax i am happy:usaf::clapping:

It would be nice if Minelab clarified the situation. Has anybody contacted Chicago and asked the?

from other threads like this I have seen its minelab that offer the discount.

so best to check with them.....

I dont want the discount to come off the top of the dealers profit. hope it is refunded from minelab.

I called my dealer that I’ve bought about 10 machines off of over the last 3-4 years and he said the list prices are the best prices he could do. Anyone else get same answer from their dealer?

To be expected. High demand & cant fill orders for a while.
Hopefully they dont pull a Sony on us. They never built as many high end sets as they could sell. Keeps inventory way down
& profits for the dealer & Sony good. Happens with houses & cars too, can sell above MSRP if a hot product.

Hell no! Drop your dealer and shop around!

The first buyers may be in a position to make $100 $200 quick profit by re-selling their machines if the pipeline doesn’t fill up fast.

I called minelab. Yes, you can get a15% veteran discount from minelab at your dealer on minelab's including the Equinox. I talked to Tracy and she said it would be fine for me to post this infomation.

“15% veteran discount from minelab at your dealer” what does that mean?

Is it 15% of...

The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) or....
The Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) - or....
The actual price your dealer and you agree on?

And is the 15% deducted from what you pay the dealer or does Minelab send you the money?

Sadly, it seems like Minelab is very reluctant to explain anything in clear plain language.

Thanks for letting us know about getting a copy of the letter of service. I just did it on the eBenefits site. USMC Nam 66-67 artillery. ( I hope to find a old artillery button some day to feel in sync with my fellow artillerymen from the past).

I believe this is a a discount that started this year. It shows the discount on some dealers for all minelab. If it is not valid on them somebody from minelab let me know on this site. you can generate a letter of vet proof on Ebenefits if U have access to it. It tells dates of service etc. MMe Air Force 1985-1993. Signals Analyst (NSA type). I don't mind paying near retail price minus the discount from minelab. My dealer has always been great with me as giving me great discounts, free shipping no tax. this will be such a huge detector I will have no problem paying around 750 a 800. You might be able to get the new pinpointer and still come in at lower than the retail price.

Please dont blame minelab. They answered the questions I asked very clearly. I didn't want to take up too much of their time and to me it doesn't really matter when I get the 15% the fact that they offer it is awesome!! Thanks Minelab!!

So, we have no idea and those busy folks in Chicago are too busy to explain it?

Not good enough.

My DD214 is in the file - what does it get me and how?

That is crappy for minelab to take right out of the dealers pocket. I suggest "us" vets not push the dealer for any greater discount that that. Got to leave some "meat on the bone".

I really appreciate the fact that Minelab for recognizing all of the Veterans out here that put their lives on hold and willing to put it all on the line serving our Country. I think the discount is great! Also it really humbles me to see all you Cantankerous VETS out there!
Keep it up and don't be afraid to speak up!

Really nice of minelab to offer a discount from your pocket eh Andy? I asked Char to put me on the list for one of these Equinox's and I know that you guys always give the best prices that you can.

Before you get too short with your local dealer or whomever you deal with understand that the 15% that Minelab is offering veterans comes out of the margin that the dealers have - the dealers are not getting an additional 15% off when they buy inventory.

I applaud Minelab for recognizing the service we gave the country but offering a 15% discount which comes out of someone else's poscket is not quite the same as offering the 15% discount from company coffers. Now if they offered 15% direct from Minelab after you made your best deal with the dealer, that would be different.

Andy

that's like me saying you can have 15% discount , its not a minelab discount then is it going on that info, surely that's not true? minelab must reimburse the dealers? if they don't then what are they going on about ?? sounds more like causing more trauma to people who have had enough for this life time.

makes me dislike their ethic's as a company even more now, sad effort minelab !!!

if I wrote what I just said out loud after reading that I would get banned, either say no discount of give the discount , highly doubt I will ever buy another minelab product after reading this.. disgusted to the highest degree..

AJ

Minelab should sell the detectors at a greater discount to make up for this. Or rebate the dealer after the sale.

A few thoughts . . . .

I think that regardless of the manufacturer's reimbursement or financial support, most dealers are more than happy to support those that served this country. Being one myself and having served at a time when the military was not looked upon in a positive light . . . . those that served during the Vietnam War & Cold War periods know all to well what that time was like off-base . . . . I am happy to provide support to fellow servicemen as well as first responders who put it on the line so the rest of us can sleep easy.

Being allowed to offer that discount publically is a plus since typically dealers are told what price equipment can be advertised at . . . . . most dealers are willing to work with customers especially those that are not simply slapping a label on the box and relying on long-distance sales to operate. Being able to develop a relationship and provide support long after the sale is made is how my wife and I have operated and is how many other dealers that see the value of that approach function.

As far as the veteran and first responder support . . . . I know I have this saying in my office and is one we all should keep in our hearts . . . .
