With EARL headed up the East coast there are a lot of hunter's that will be on the beach
and in the water to try and get there share of loot he uncovers. That's what we hunter's
do when time and condition's are right, but PLEASE remember that rips and large surf
are a real danger at this time and are not to be taken lightly. Wear a PDF of some sort
even if you are only knee deep! Bad things can, will, and do happen to even the best of
swimmers in these condition's. Don't let the thrill of the hunt take first place; make it your
safety instead. Good Luck to you all !

Just read last night that a swimmer off the coast of Asbury Park went under and did not surface. The currents are still very strong, and although things may look nice on the surface, it's trecherous underneath.

If you are going in past your ankles, BE CAREFUL and take all precautions necessary to make sure if you fall, you will be able to get back to solid ground.

As one with many detectorist here.........

I have had to act, and save a person that was in the water either before/after the life gaurds were on duty.

Growing up around water here in Nj, and doing some surfing. It never surprises when someone get's into a sitution.

It is best to be proactive instead of reactive. It could save your life.

Why on Earth would one go swimming after the guards are gone....and even if there are there, the surf has been BRUTAL due to these storms and people have the be wary and careful.

Even in the wash, you gotta watch kids being thrown into you ! Very easy to get a knee torn up.
