When I am swinging my coil My audio goes a little funky. The best way I can describe it is... It sounds kinda like you are using an analog dial to tune in an old time radio. It breaks up, then goes soft, then out. I pull the trigger and it goes away. this seems to happen more around bad targets and iron. It will also do something similar when I pin point. It is very annoying. BTW it is not "unstable operation" otherwise my vision is running smooth as silk. Any thoughts? D

I can hear my detector's threshold when I'm not moving the coil. When I swing the coil, I can hear the threshold "null" when the detector discriminates the object under the coil. I know that's what I am hearing because I can watch the spectragraph produce red bars on all three frequencies. I have not modified the SAT setting, and my detector seems to be running great.
If your audio anomaly is not accompanied by the appropriate corresponding spectragraph readings, you may have a problem.

Hi dan, Yes my Vision dos what your hearing, We need a Manual?? I feel better I thought my V was FREEKING Out I think its Modulation trying to work?????
Now this is just a hunch?? Go to Expert Menu / Auido / Serch Auido / Turn Modulation off, See if this Helps???

Wes, It is not the threshold nulling, or the normal sounds you typically get. Nothing like the way my DFX has ever sounded like. I think it is closer to what Mic said...."V freaking out" I have tried modulation on/off, it happens in both. Another thing that I have noticed is the audio is not as sharp and crisp as my DFX. There is a little sound that happens after the note. I have tried changing some of the audio settings, but I still get it. Like I said, other than this, everything seems to be great. BTW, everything that I am talking about happens in all factory preset programs. Carl, do you have any thoughts?
Ak1234, I use/ have used the Spectra phones that came with, My Rat Phones and very little on the speaker......happens on all. all batt levels from top to bottom. What do you mean by audio device? I mostly use my rats now because of the spectra-phones being tooo loud. I am thinking of sending it in for the audio fix, but I want to wait as long as possible in order to get in on any other changes they may make.
Maybe some interference is having some effect. You might try changing the channel and look at the green/red bar indicator to find a channel that provides the most green and less red.
And if trying to overcome a possible interference, maybe another shot at boosting the power output setting of the wireless transmit power - which will draw more power from battery power.
Lower Rx to check if the coil receive is picking spurious signal mix.
Might be me dreaming (probably is), but seems like some headphone batteries worked better than others - but I figured it's my dreaming as I like to think that well known batteries are a better bet than some of the never heard of off brands.
I dunno - just seems like maybe a setting or two might lessen an annoyance - or better yet, someone chime in and chop up my shot please.

My 5.3 none V is deadly deep ....But it still has Issues like what....... this string is talking About ....I will not be quiet any more...

I have noticed other issues ...
It is a good machine but it could be better....
For you "Test_ A _ houlics" It's "THE HUNTER BABY" in real world test..... found with the V3 or whatever they are calling it this WEEK....

And really now...is a forum the proper place to air your grievances about your dealer relationship? Do you think it'll actually "improve" by posting on a forum?
I have bee outside trying to recreate the condition you guys are referring to ....... with my machine I can only get that from what Wes and Tab-nabit referred to in their posts. I'm not saying yours isn't having a problem but might I suggest trying to reset your programs to their original configuration to see if it clears up or you might want to try a machine reboot too.
I guess when I called Easter Friday....Good Friday.... some how the call got misplaced....
Easy to understand everyone thinking of baking that Ham.....Easter egg hunts....
So I Am Glad they called.... The V3 is a Good Detector.....my words above.....very Deep...
I will try some different things next time I have the interference.........I can make my little 5.3 smoke...
And I will be testing my D2 some more.... to try to put a finger on it.....this is A very addictive detector be warned!

Hi Jim,
When they called what advice did they give? I have been using an XLT for a few years along with a DFX for the last year. I love the DFX. Very crisp and clear hits without any noise whatsoever. Im just not sure if it is the settings or the D2 coil but something doesnt sound right.

Mainly we talked about some of the extreme ranges i was pushing the V3 on the 5.3 and how they where ramping up production on those and All coils they are working hard to deliver the new Candy....
Also we talked about.... I will try to take mine out of tone Id... use the standard BEEP next time I run into extreme interference....

Sweeeeet!! I used my 4x6 DD on the V3 however I cant use Transmit Boost. Seems like a neat feature. I primarily used my 4X6 with my DFX due to most of my sites were old homes or old church/picnic areas. Needless to say, I cant wait to get a new 4X6.
Jim DE, A reboot.....I didn't think of that, thanks. What is happening to me is almost the opposite of graph accumulate on the DFX. ( does the V3 have this feature BTW) With my DFX I sometimes would get an iffy signal and could coax out a good one by rapidly passing the coil over a very small area to get a lock on the target. Graph average and accumulate would aid in this. I try the same thing with my V3 and I get that weird noise. could it be that it is trying to tell me there is a piece of crud down there and to stop? I do feel that I am digging less trash with this unit.
