Does anyone own and hunt with just one detector anymore?

Neil

That's the way I started out and sure enough Ive come up with a dozen reasons on why I need more than just the one. So Ive got 5 now and must have spent 10 minutes today pondering which to take out hunting this afternoon.......
Seems like a lot of people own more than one but Id like to know if anyone owns/uses just one. And if you do which one is it?

I own several detectors but only hunt with one these days...........my Etrac.
Of course that could change down the road.

I have one of them,, One of those,, One of the others.. But I only use one at a time... KEN

For 22 yrs I hunted with the Tesoro GSII listed below....it was the only tector I'd ever used and it's found me thousands upon thousands of coins, etc. In Aug/Sept (?) I'd bought a new Tejon and used it for 8-10hrs and now it sits (no fault with the Tejon but I knew right away it wasn't the machine "I" needed). Bought an Etrac and learning it at present but can already tell it'll be my deep silver "sharpshooter". I'll dump the Tejon and keep my old trusty GSII when I really need to bang out the shallower coins and time is limited... but the Etrac will be the weapon of choice when I'm not rushed for time and seeking the deeper silver........

I'll never part with the GSII and after 22yrs with it I know it pretty well. Have a long way to go with the ET yet but it's all starting to come together recently......

I like a change now and then . I switch off between a Vaquero an M6 and an Explorer . I like them all with medium or smaller size coils .
The Explorer doesn't get out very much anymore or for as long due to the weight . Sometimes it does get a bit hard to decide which one to use and sometimes the type of place I'm hunting makes the decision easier . They are all remarkable machines .

I have several and if I had one chance to hunt a yard or a good site for one day only and not do any more digging than I have to it would be my Minelab Sovereign GT with the Sun Ray meter and the S-1 probe as I can ID and find the good targets very good percentage and yet dug smaller hole because of the S-1 probe.
Now for the one I used the most as I like to hunt all the old parks that most considered cleaned out I use my CTX 3030 as I am still in the learning stage and expect to do more digging for all those iffy signals as I am still learning it and the more you use a detector the more you will learn by experience.

I can see a need for at least 3...that is to be able to hunt in all situations, from a totlot to a salt beach, in all weather conditions...plus, a guy needs a back up rig for each just in case the main heater takes a dump in prime season and has to go in for repairs, so thats six...then, of course a fellow needs to experiment with new models to hunt your old familiar locations for anything you might have missed, so thats nine...just to be on the safe side, lets call it an even dozen....bare minimum!

We are no different then the crazy women around us. Just ask them why they need a dozen pair of shoes............

George I would use my Etrac for probably 80% of my hunting if it was lighter.

I'm down to one ... Minelab CTX 3030 !!

Cosmic how long you been detecting and how many detectors would you say you've gone through?

Since the 70's started with Fisher 555D.. Since then BH Time Ranger, Fisher Gold Bug II, Gold bug Pro, 2/ F75's , F 70, Garret 1350, Infinium, AT Pro, Whites 2/ M6's, V3I, Teknetics T2 SE, Tesoro Tejon, Minelab Explorer XS, Xterra 70, Explorer SE, 2/ Etrac's... , Now down to the CTX 3030..
I thinks that's all of them..

One for land/dry(v3i) and one for water/wet(beach hunter)......need a pi and I'll be set for now!

Yes the compadre is all i have and need, id rather spend more time detecting and not tryin to pay off detectors worth more than my car
