Does Anyone Have Hearing Problems

I've had tinnitus for nearly 50 years. I don't do anything about it besides learn to live with it.
From time to time is has subsided a little for short periods, when I've been in a situation where I was able to be in a virtually noiseless environment for days, but for the most part it's been my constant companion for decades.

I was born with s birth defect that left my left ear with a closed down canal. When younger I was tested and had about 15-20% hearing on that side. On the other hand my right side had nearly 125% capability. I was able to get into the military and civilian law enforcement because of the right side. Now that I’m older I have no hearing on the left but normal on the right.
Odd thing is I too get the tinnitus ring but its on the left side which baffles the audiologist. He simply suggested up my water intake which does seem to help.

Constantly but (you will think it's nuts) this can actually help and often gives one some immediate relief. Try it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I did this about a year ago and it worked for one day but not any day afterwards. I read your post and did it again and it worked great. Today I’m back to normal, ringing in both ears.
I wonder if it’s physiological ?

Do any of you have ringing, hissing, etc in your ears. If so what do you
do about it or what do you use to stop it..
Mine sound like an orchestra of crickets 🦗. Like BigTony mentions, I feel there is a connection with neck / spine. I notice when I stay away from sugar / caffeine, then exercise and get a good “solid” nights sleep, the ringing is much less severe.
I wearing hearing aids and this helps drown out the ringing but not completely. Funny thing, since having lost much of my high pitch hearing, I can now hear mid and lower frequencies better than people who have no hearing loss at all.

Interesting subject. My ears are pretty bad. Jimmy...Do you wear hearing aids while detecting? If so what type? Thanks!
Ted - I do not wear my hearing aids while detecting. However I do have to increase volume a bit more on my headphones and this suffices. If you are looking for superior hearing aids the Oticon Opn S miniRITE R have incredible power and clarity. If you have any Apple products such as the IPhone, IPad or iPod these are the Hearing Aids for you. They also have them designed for Android products too. Any other questions, feel free to pm me.

Thank you Jimmy! I have my volume at 25 on the Equinox and I use wired headphones. I will check into those hearing aids.
I do have to warn you they are pricey. Pm if you want more info.

Yes this would be nice to hear what you think of it, for me I believe I may have tried this and notice no difference. They claim that it restore your hearing or something like that as mine is just hard of hearing with a 110% gone in lot of the tones with the best I have is no more than 40% of the other tones. 100% is total deafness and why many of the new phone I do not hear as they are high pitch. The phone I do have has a lower tone pitch and it is loud when it rings, but the volume of the phone is hard to hear, My cell phone I have to use the speaker phone option .
Many detectors signals is too quick for me to hear and why I like my Sovereigns so much as they have a threshold and listen to the tone to change. either null or a good tone.
Now if your problem is the ringing in your ears maybe this stuff will work and why it didnt do anything for me. Without my severe/prolong hearing aid I would be lost. Been thinking on a coacular implant as was told this be my only option, but new stuff in hearing aids have changed for the better and maybe this will be for me. Got to talk to my Audiologist and see if something is new.
My problem is what is called nerve damage which is the hair in my inner ear are gone or close to be gone that transfer the sounds that we hear.
Good luck and let us know if this helps your hearing.

Rick

Good luck with those, I hope they work.
For two years I tried Lipo Flavaniod (spelling), they claim that some folks will get relief from ringing in the ears. They also will reimburse you if you send in the UPC codes and receipts - I stopped this because it didn’t help me.

When I was little I had tinnitus. When I was older, I suffered an injury in the army, where I lost most of my hearing to high-pitched sounds. I have a total loss of 72%, but I don't use hearing aids. I can read lips well and I defend myself... If I notice, that when the cervicals are "loaded" I can hear a slight background noise, but as I always use the background tone when I detect, I've gotten used to it 😉😂
