Does anyone else do this?

Yep, for wild animals and two legged creatures. Have been approached too many times by gold toothed sagging pants yellow eyed dreadlocked miscreants looking to start some crap and usually when faced with a determined individual holding a monster digging tool and strapped to boot, they wander off to find a softer target. Gold keeps going up I might try to harvest the teeth.
 
I carry my pistol everywhere I go. I bought a 22 mag, 5 shot revolver made by North American Arms. It is small and light. It is always in my front pocket. It gives me a piece of mind while away from the house. If your pistol is too big to carry all the time you may not have it when you need it. I was at church a couple of years ago and one of the people leaving church was robbed and had their car stolen. Several people saw the guy with the gun and they tried to get to their vehicles to get to their guns.... they didn't make it back to the thug before he left in the stolen car. This is the main reason I carry my gun EVERYWHERE.
 
My brother and his wife carry those 22 pistols and they both have pocket holsters and you never know they are armed. A gun like that is easy to conceal and can sure make the difference in survival. North American Arms makes some good little carry pistols and the 22 mag is nothing to disrespect. It sure is loud and that will get any predator's attention.
