looks as though it's been shot or nailed, many old timey designs. Brass or copper. What'z it ?

In shape, it looks like a tip from the scabbard of a Confederate cavalry saber.

It was North Carolina is all the info I have on it. A friend of mine found it. Im in Louisiana.
