It would be interesting to know the US State in which it was found. I am not interested in the area (to protect your privacy) Only the State. That way the search would open up a bit more.
It was North Carolina is all the info I have on it. A friend of mine found it. Im in Louisiana.

Thanks. That's why I asked. During the war of independence (1775-1783) Bernardo de Gálvez, leading an army of Spaniards, helped the US in the Louisiana area. The French, further north ... For example.
In this case, look for possible Spanish or French sabers.

Although I think it is after 1800, we will have to find out what battle was in North Carolina and at what time. Maybe so you can know which saber model is what your friend has
Sorry if I am not well understood, as I use an online translator.
Greetings

I hope someone with more information than me can respond. It is very interesting.
I think the Confederates did not use standardized material, so there can be many different models.

I understand you very well. Thank you for your responses also. Greetings

I found a sales page where there are tons of examples of civil war swords. I don't know if I can post here, but just for the examples, it's worth it.
If the moderator considers that it cannot be published, to remove it. I will understand.

Isn't this a great forum? So much info from those that willingly share. I've been detecting almost 48 years and still learning. Well, it is getting harder to retain it.
