Diving the Eggbeater!!

I am pretty much the only experienced diver in this neck of the woods. In fact, I got called yesterday by the Nakusp Police.. Did I want to do a body recovery?? Well, actually no, I do not!!! But I will . So we will see what happens there. Mostly now, my diving is just for fun for me.
I am one of the old timers... Been at it for 47 years now. I read a book when I was 11 and decided to take up diving. When I think of the trouble that I could have gotten into....... Scares me now.
I heard a beautiful saying today. It went kinda like ..."Do not think of death as a putting out of the light. Think, rather, of it as, putting out a lantern, because it is dawn and the light is no longer needed." !! I dunno, It hit a cord with me..
All the best

In fact, I think I have only ever seen one snake while diving. There are certainly other thinks I guess. Wolf eels, some types of sharks, Orcas, whales. But these are all very rare occurances.
I bet Royal, in his many years underwater, has not seen many of these; Maybe sharks though. He has been to the Caribbean so very probably he has. But common sense is all that is needed.
Cheers

I have never done any diving and as such, stories like this are interesting to me. Sounds like the currents below the surface would be similiar to the action of the winds in the sky...but more deadly. Thanks for sharing this story! Please have a great day! you go under here, it's all over. Everyone on that crewboat died. And it then gets stuck in that mud bottom-You should see the size of the crane they used to bring it up. The links in the chain are about 18 feet long and over 3 feet in diameter.

What happened? Did some of the tropical catfish from an aquarium escape?

But you have to remember, like most guys, I remember those stories that made the biggest impression on me. Of the thousands of dives I have made over the years, only a very small percentage have been dangerous.

this kind of work, but diving for a body would scare me so much! The initial shock of spotting it would be bad! Do you scuba dive only, or do you put the big helmet on and deep sea dive also?
I like the quote, too. Well thought out!

When I saw a water moccasin traveling at a pretty good rate of speed across the camp pond, I took off in the other direction!!! Hate 'em!! Sure made me watch the ground while I was docking the boat, for sure! I made Scott go back and get all the other stuff out of the boat when we left!

fellers at the time. Now, some of them must be twelve inches, or more. Lil Brother will tell you! He caught several of them!

I would never pretend to like it..... And i would never charge for that service. But, as you said, someone has to do it. And I do have the experience.
I only use scuba . I only once tried hardhat. I did not care much for it. You are not in control and must rely on someone else for your air. Movement is very restricted too. The only advantage is the length of time that you can stay down and the fact that you can communicate with the topside.

you and friend Royal can have ALL that current diving stuff.
Gimme a Brownie hooka system or a twin 80, an Excalibur 1000, a 25' party barge and few well used swimmin' holes on our inland lakes and I'll be happy.
You guys keep the crabs, the current, the barracuda and the sharks. Deal???

From the coast to the inland. We have ghost town, lakes, some old swimmin' holes. Those are my milieu now. Like you, I use the excal for water work.
Tell you what I will do. You arrange to come up here, and I will take you to some of the best detecting areas around.
