Dive boot socks?

Who wears them?
I wear NeoSport Wetsuits 5mm Hard Sole Boots and am pleased with them, same pair 2 years now. Still can't avoid some sand/shell getting in from the scoop shake out and irritating my feet, I'm thinking a pair of Lycra Fin Dive Socks would help. Thanks

Bob, any socks will work and keep the sand off the skin. Wally world has a pack (of 10) of black sport socks for just under $10 that work just fine for me.... the socks end up covered with sand but the irritation from sand against the feet is gone. No need to spend the extra bucks on the "scuba socks"

Dive socks really extend the day as far as comfort and pain are concerned, especially as we hunt on trips - all day and all week. For a few hours it doesn't matter. One of my hunting buddies gave me a pair of cheap elastic knee braces that he got from a dollar store; simply put those on the top of your dive boots. They really help

A fluffy sock with the CHEAP elastic knee braces put on to cover the boot top and part of the socks will keep everything out of the foot area. They make great filters for the shell, sand and grit you have to walk in.

I personally will not use the thin dress socks (inefficient for filtering) or the heavy athletic ones (not as comfortable). I use white one so I can see when they are clean of any sand when I rinse them off after a day in the water.

Happy feet make for an enjoyable walk in the water.

Something I have considered but never tried is gaiters. Wouldn't be hard to do a homemade pair that would keep sand and small shells out of the boots..

Thanks for the info. Tried some athletic socks today, was very comfortable for the time spent out getting skunked..lol

I'll bet you guys are a sight out there in the water, with your gaiters, fluffy socks and knee braces.

When my dive boots get sand/shell in them, I take them off, clean them out and then put them back on. Maybe I'm being too cheap? :)

I wear a pair of Scuba Pro Dive boots and I rarely get more than a few grains of sand inside my boots. They are tight enough at the ankles that I do not have that problem. Two years of use and they are still going strong.

Sorry, Kin ...didn't realize that age played a factor.

That's just great .... I'm fifty and experiancing foot cramps while water hunting. Does that mean that the gaiters and knee braces are not far off

Don't sweat that unimportant stuff. I worry about the day I become a Depends customer!
Some would argue that when hunting in the surf, it doesn't matter, but I worry enough about the sharks as it it- Not gonna chum for them. :detecting:

(jquist nailed it)

Lycra Socks work great. They help keep the sand abrasion down. They dry quickly. They are almost tough enough to wear by themselves. Do not put them in a dryer. One size fits all. My hunting buddies all made fun of me for wearing them. Now they wear them too.

Wide piece of double sided velcro at the top. As far as age ...... im 63 and can keep up with most of you out there ... even with the shells in my shoes. Its not that im cheap ......... im lazy.

I wear the 3mm socks during the winter to keep my feet warm in my drysuit, but during the summer at the Ocean I wear bootfoot waders...when the water is ruff not much will keep out sand around here..

Wondering at what age that "OLD" happens. I hope to live long enough to reach that Pinnacle.

5mm Seaquest dive boots, they are snug so I don't get any sand really but that was surf entry while diving. I never detected in them but this year I'm doing waders. I wish I could go in trunks but not being able to get my legs wet puts me in my drysuit or waders.... as hot as it gets I'll do waders.

I prefer to think that some of us just have more knowledge and experience, that comes with age. And what the heck, fluffies, Lycra, athletic sock or what ever are under water and the girls can't see them and I can at least keep my vanity up!

As for the LEG cramps, try magnesium 250mg / day. My doctor told me to try magnesium and it is the ONLY pill he has told me about or prescribed, that REALLY works. Got rid of the cramps and kept the fluffies and braces.

If it takes 11 seconds to hear, decide to dig and retrieve a gold ring...how many gold rings can you miss by stopping to clean out your boots? HUMMMMMM.

Every one tells me what happens when you get "OLD"...at 68, I can't wait to experience some of the things like Senior Moments, noon time naps, Required Minimum Distributions, cataracts,

and for Depends there is always an option:
