Digging Tool

Hello,

I bought my e-trac from Kellyco. It came with, what they said, was over $500 in accessories. Most of which were useless. The Pro Leather Waist Treasure Pouch fell apart in about a week.
The Razor Edge Gator Digging Tool is equally useless. It bent the first time I tried to pull up a plug, even in moist soil. It must be a knock off of the real thing.
Anyone know where I can get a good digging tool that won't bend? I would hate to go out and pay good money for another piece of junk.
Thanks, Dan.

Get yourself a Lesche digging tool and forget it. Best digging tool out there. Lifetime warranty around $35.00. HH :minelab:

If you want to buy a $75-100 digging tool, those mentioned would be great. Personally, I'm not paying that much for one. Lowes carries an Ames digger (about $15) and I just picked-up a spare (Fiskars) at Meijer for $7-8. I'm a large guy & have abused the Ames on several occasions, and it's still rearin' to go for more. I don't see my opinion changing any time soon.

I bet if you do a site search you'd find pics of both tools.

Nisaku Digging soil knife digs in hard dry VA soil no problem has straight and serrated edge and its stainless

Fiskars Big Grip Soil Knife, model 7079. But be warned, it will set you back 10 bucks.

Thanks for all the replies. This is too weird. I posted that message last night. Today I went hunting and when I got there I opened the trunk to get all of my stuff.......and the bent Gator digging tool was no where to be found. I must have left it behind the day before. I didn't even go back there to see if I could find it.
Anyway I just ordered the Predator 85.
Thanks again, Dan.

Joshua Roth 1515 Japanese Hori Hori $25 bucks shipped. Had it for 2 years now and it handles everything from rocks to clay. Cuts thru it all:) Price is right!

The Lesche/ Predators ar not 75 - 100 bucks
The Fiskar is a nice light duty knife and yes i have both.
The others would eat it for breakfast.

Dan - Welcome to the world of Kellyco "free" accessories!

It's nice that they throw in extras and all, and claiming that a free accessory package retails for over $500 when it's only worth a small fraction of that at best no doubt helps them sell more detectors than if they used a lower more honest retail price. But it's a shady way to do business, IMO.

You picked a good one with the Predator 85, Predator and Lesche are top-of-the-line and well worth it as they will last a long, long time. Unless you leave them behind in the field...

The Ames Planters Buddy someone else mentioned is a good deal for under $15, but they can break since the tang only goes a little ways into the handle. But they have a lifetime warranty so save your receipt and Ames will send you another one when that happens.

Yeah I can't believe they do the $500.00 worth of Free Accessories. I'm a small dealer in Houston. I believe it's all about the service and the product. I occasionally throw in some free stuff depending on what a customer buys. The free stuff is not junk. It's quality material. I'd like to see Kellyco do that!

As far as the tools I love my Lesche. Been using it for about 4 years. Best $39.95 I ever spent.

Uh, there ARE Predator digging tools in excess of $85, and Lesche's in excess of $70, then add shipping to both, which to me has to be included in to the total cost invested.

I lost my lesche. Just got another one $40.40 shipped. It was from colonial detectors. $34.95 plus shipping

The one I lost was the model 76, which is more expensive. It has the screw off cap on the end of the handle. I didn't like the screw off cap. It was hard on my hand when digging. You can't go wrong with the Lesche.
