Diggers...did anyone else catch the mistake?

Right on Bob! Just imagine three or four CTX's at the Shilo Battlefield!!! Those Minie Balls would be flying out of the ground!

....come out of the ground. Nickels down here in South Texas typically come out of the ground looking like weathered tin but dug an Indian head one time that was 5" down and came out of the ground shiny like it was minted the week before!
I watched the Caribbean episode and the island expert identified a key they found as a clock or equipment key...it was not. It was actually a keg spigot key. I sent them an email and Ringy responded in less than an hour with a very nice email and a thank you.

here are pictures of a nickel 3-cent piece and a silver 3-cent piece that I've actually detected and dug. You can see what my "moderately mineralized soil" does to coins with a nickel composite. I'll leave it to others to judge whether or not the show Diggers is less than authentic.

DONT GET ALL WORKED UP
over a show!!! that was a good point kieth tx many coins come out looking like POO but some come out in great shape
how much acid in ground /moisture is another biggy if the ground is dry dry dry that coin can pop out looking like it droped out
last year. i have seen many indians look so nice and some look so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can never tell, but them boys may do some planting 4 the
show. just to work all of you up!!!!!!!!!!!

keep smiling it may not get better!!!!!

So does that mean that the knife that one of them found at butch cassidy's camp between them mountains, wasnt really used to dig out a bullet from the sundance kid like they stated?Awww man.

I watched the show and I did not hear that they called it silver, maybe I missed it but I may reload it again just to check that out.

You Tube is just as bad.

Have a look at Low-Boys clips with his Makro Racer (Lawrenzo)

He plants a Limo drivers badge and heads straight to it, didn't even bother make the already dug ground look undisturbed.

What a sham. But most jewelry hunters buy their "finds" from a hock shop. Just a fact about detectorists wanting a piece of false glory.

Just finished watching tonights second episode on the Peshtigo Fire. KG pulled out a beautiful silver three-cent piece. The problem is that it was an 1868 nickel three-cent piece, 75% copper and 25% nickel. No way it comes out of the ground looking like that! I know the show is for entertainment purposes, but things like that really aggravate me. Planted finds and the their antics are too over the top for me. Back to good ol YouTube videos for me![/quote]

They never call it silver. The condition of the nickle is what is suspect.

The originally posted intimated that they called it silver that is what I was alluding to. If you go to the first post you can see that.

I didn't state anywhere in my post that they called it silver...I said they pulled out a beautiful silver three cent piece, however the date makes it a nickel three cent piece. I was stating my opinion and observation that it is highly unlikely that coin would come out of the ground looking like that. At least it won't where I'm from.

So you were alluding to the "color" not "content" it was difficult to discern that from how it was worded. It,s no big deal but you can see why it may be interpreted that way.

I ain't gonna knock nobody down here in redneck country, BUT, do ya'll recall the show about Monticello ((Jefferson's Homesite)) ????have I got my
presidents right? Anyway, they were looking for the horse barn. They brought in a metal detecting club to HELP them find where this horse stable
was. I got a 68" TV and I could read the words "Minelab" on a lot of the apparel there. Didn't see those guys turning flips and hollering like a hyena.
Did I spell that right? I watch the show. I have an AT Pro, Safari, and CTX3030. I have never seen them dig beyond 4 to 5 " for anything unless it
was the size of a frying pan or in a freshly plowed up field. They came here close to me and hunted for the Atom Bomb that was mistakenly dropped
on Mars Bluff, SC. I was born and raised a farmer and up until about 3 years ago I was still pulling Indian Artifacts out of my rolling cultivators that would
get caught up in them. Think about it. How fast would a piece of steel 5" wide and 1" thick sink. I like the show because it is about a hobby that I consider
a "sport". I "tolerate" the below par acting, but I pay close attention to the details and the one on this 3 cent piece didn't get by me either. I just wish
that they would stop the acting and get some 3030's. The AT Pro is an excellent machine and I love mine. But in reality, it just can't hang with the
Minelabs.

I saw the episode and it certainly looks fishy to me!
I found an 1868 several years ago and it came out of the ground looking like you would expect a nickel that had been in the ground 150 years to look...
Things that make you go "hmmmmmm"

If one of the finds these guys made on the show isn't a genuine find, my next question would be; how many of their other finds aren't genuine finds?
And, If one of the finds these guys made on the show isn't a genuine find, are ANY of the other finds they made on the show genuine finds?
Stuff like this irritates me.
