Deus is too much detector

I dusted off my deus (the original) and went to a school playground today (Sunday Mothers Day). It was hard for me to leave my simplex behind but I did. I had a lot of fun and found plenty of kid stuff as to be expected I.E. cosmetic jewelry like rings and charms. Cute and fun to find. One thing that really stuck out in my mind is that I had too much detector for the terrain. There was a HUGE difference between the simplex and the Deus out there, just about every target was a high tone 80 or above....every target was blasting my headphones up....I was digging copper pennies at 8 and 9 inches in the wood chips. After 30 or so pennies I stopped digging numbers between 80 and 88. I focused on the "double tap" sound of a sub-surface target. In all I dug maybe 45 coins, two Canadian, one a Canadian dollar (in the picture) and one Canadian penny. 5 quarters and 3 dimes 2 nickles. I think I will save the deus for hunting parks and fields for deeper targets from now on. It was a nice change though swinging the ultra light Deus again. I used the Basic program in the beginning and then switched to the GM Power. It was nice weather and I had the park to my self for most of the day.

Hi All My Fellow TH'ers
I use the XP-DEUS with the 9 inch HF Coil. I use the number 3 program DEUS Deep. and dig all targets at 5 or above. Yes I dig a ton of junk but the deep tiny good items show up and are recovered. Here in Virginia the soil condition is all over the place from solid clay to rock but every so often you will find an area where the soil has been amended and soft enough to dig in with out a lot of effort. My latest find include a jacket sized button that the XP was able to locate with just the tiny loop on the back. You have to listen for those very faint blips or tone changes to find the smallest items. I was also able to dig a 1886 Canadian Fish Scale 5 Cent. You have to try different programs to get to the good finds. The good finds are out there but you have to do your best to dig them out as so many are masked by iron. I carry a bucket to put all the junk finds into and clear the surface finds first then go back over the location to find those deeper items. I wish everyone all the best of luck with your next TH! ;-) Dave
