Detectorists with Cancer

i haven't done any treasure hunting for several years but I've been through some trials this past year and decided to take up my old hobby again as a kind of therapeutic way to get back into life. I was diagnosed with colon cancer back in July of this year. I'm only forty years old so it was kinda odd. The good thing is it was a stage two tumor. I had surgery to remove a section of my colon, took a little chemo voluntarily since the doc said I really didn't need it.

I have three sons....two still very young. I started talking about metal detecting and how much fun I used to have doing it and my ten year old started getting really excited about the prospect of diggin up treasures (which is what I called anything I dug up). After some research I decided on a Tesoro Compadre to start out with. My son is very small so the lightweight machine attracted me, not to mention the lifetime warranty and excellent customer service of the company.

So, my new Tesoro should be here within the next few days. If my boy really likes it, he'll have enough christmas money to buy one of his own which I'm fairly certain he will want to do. I loved metal detecting once. I'm sure I will again but getting through this cancer has made me realize the importance of family and making memories and that's what I'm looking forward to the most.

God bless....

I am glad to hear so much positive feedback on this thread. Having cancer sure does change your outlook on life. Everyday is precious and it is up to you how you handle it. I just smile and keep on going.

Thamks for all the replies.

God Bless All you that are struggling with cancer. I had a motorcycle wreck in 2004 and paralyzed my right arm. So I know a little about staying positive and relying on god. He is our strength in the time of need. I will remrmber this thread in prayer and I hope that all me be healed and strengthened. Just keep the Faith. He said he wouldn't put more on us than we can bear. But I feel like I have extra large shoulders at times. God Bless
