Detectorists TV Program

Looks like it was lucky timing i caught the first episode on Ytube. I also caught the 2nd episode 'preview' on Ytube and was looking forward to viewing it in its entirety.
Now, what a bummer the episodes got pulled off Ytube!

I decided to delve a little deeper and I found the 2nd Episode on a different version of youtube called
YouTube Spotlight. The URL for spotlight is here YouTube Spotlight,

Just type in the search box at the top Detectorists when the search results come up, you will find it 15 items down the list.

The first Episode is also there..

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for making the episodes available . I just watched episode 2 and enjoyed it very much . That is a really nice thing you did . Excellent web surfing and discovery . The introduction of "Simon and Garfunkel" has really raised the laugh bar to a higher level . May you find "The Holy Grail" of your dreams .:detecting::thumbup::thumbup::cheers:

After typing in "Detectorists" I have found that the 2nd episode is moving about on YouTube Spotlight, it was only 4 items down the list last time I looked, I think the higher up the list means its getting more hits.

The best show that I saw was sponsored by Whites MD, it was called American Treasure Hunter. You can still see them on you tube. They were really good shows. They didn't clown around, they were very informative. I did get a glimpse of the detectorist on you-tube. I will be waiting for it. The Oak Tree Island series is back in November, I love that show.

Thanks for that jerseyjim, I will look at that one, just to make sure, was it called Treasure Hunting America ? not, American Treasure Hunter as I can't find one with that title.

Tonight, Thursday, is the 3rd episode of Detectorists, I am looking forward to it, are we going in the Paddock Field?

trukedd, i'm sure it is called 'Treasure Hunting America'. All the full episodes are available on Ytube.

Yeah, i'm also looking forward to episode #3. You all in the UK are lucky in the sense you could dig up a 1000+ year old coin. Here, one is extremely lucky to dig up a couple hundred year old coin.

I watched the 2nd episode yesterday and I liked it better than the first one for sure. Maybe because I could totally see myself picking on Simon and Garfunkel as well.

Wonder if this is where Mackenzie came up with the idea? Strangely similar but not as funny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kXdZNp9eec

I have watched the 1st episode on Youtube. I enjoyed it and yes it is tongue-in-cheek humor. Looking forward to more episodes, maybe it will come to Amazon Prime soon and I can see more of it.
I read comments in this same thread about the "diggers" guys on Nat Geo. I have chatted with Ringy and King George. Very nice fellas that have not let their popularity go to their heads. Everyone has their own opinion of the show but some of the negativity comes from envy/jealousy. I can admit that I would love to be able to do what I have a passion for (Metal Detecting) and get paid to do it along with having the backing of The National Geographic channel to gain access to places that most likely have never been hunted "legally" before.( I would jump around for that reason alone) Their antics have in no way given our hobby a black eye. In fact, since that show started, I have had numerous people come up to me while hunting and ask if I am finding items like those "digger guys" on tv. Sure, they might ask if I jump around and use funny lingo for my finds like the diggers, to which I quickly respond :nono:but most enjoy the show regardless of the silly antics. The ironic thing is that these people that talk to me aren't even metal detectorists but yet they can look past the silly stuff and enjoy the obvious point of the show and that is recovering history. These conversations are also a great oppurtunity to answer questions about metal detectors and detecting while promoting the hobby in a positive light because unfortunately on occasion, I have also been asked about the devil himself, Mr.Savage and his crew.:puke:. Now that clown really gives the Metal Detecting hobby a black eye..... and a fat lip, and; well you get the point. To the naysayers I say this; If you don't like the Metal Detecting tv shows, there is a simple solution, DON'T WATCH THEM! or go out and start your own metal detecting show because no one here is paying you for your criticism .

ramairnut,
i've no doubt those two clowns are good guys off camera. NO, I for one am not envious or jealous of their special connections to hunt historic sites.
Yes, Diggers has/is ruining metal detecting as some of us have known it in the past... just by that show's its existence.
Have you even read all of the negative comments regarding that show on this website?

Its not as simple as turning the show off, the damage is being done regardless.

I tried to watch the first episode. It quickly turned me off and since I did not want to put my foot thru the computer monitor I turned to something else.

I find "Detecting" Shows do more damage than good for the hobby.

Well the previous episodes are gone again . It happens when a new episode is released , hopefully it becomes available again as it has in the past .

Got to to watch the 2nd episode and then thats all she wrote...not available in your country or something to that effect.

I installed Google chrome (free) . I just now checked and the first 4 episodes and the trailer for 5 are still on . After installation of Google chrome , go to Youtube there and type in detectorists . It's been working for me for several days . Best of luck , I hope this works for you.

What a great show. I binged watched the first 4 episodes. Watched # 5 tonight and they are getting even better.
Now I am re watching them again.
I love British humor the and this show really hits the spot on so many levels.
Going to have to add a pair of binoculars for recon.

#5 was great . As soon as you said you saw it I went and did so myself . Thanks !

Watched the final episode of the first season tonight #6 so now we wait for season 2. Hooray there is going to be a season 2. I really like the theme song for the series and it has grown on me as it is a very earthy tune with great lyrics.
The open house day at the Club is priceless.

That last episode was great! I enjoyed them all! How do you figure that gold ring was in with dog bones? Do you think that crazy Larry murdered his wife and fed her to his dogs?

That final shot when Lance pulled up a pulltab that was sitting on top of that hoard! He never bothered to rescan the hole!
