Detector stand extension Help?

INCH

New member
Has anyone ever made a extention for their stand . I welcome any ideas. The pro seems to roll over more than my Ace model. About two inchs more seems to do the trick. Thats not the redneck coming out of me in the picture, just an example.

I'm working on it. I'm not sure who the designer was of the AT PRO, but they overlooked a few obvious details. The arm brace rod needs to be longer and the feet need to be bigger. Think I'll see about building a combination arm brace extension with bigger feet.

Think fast:clapping: Yeah the arm brace is like my ace , but doesnt bother me as much as the feet on the stand....

Ha, Ha.....I love it 4 clothes pegs so simple, I have always been a great supporter of the Kiss principle and that looks as if it falls admirably into that category, well done for using the materials you had to hand

You can take a heat gun and bend the legs for a wider stance. But you can set it down on it's side and it will never fall over. I have built a lot of different stands for these machines. I can tell you by the time you get it wide enough to be stable it's banging into your side from being so wide. I don't like the look of those plastic heavy "kick stands" that they sell. The guy that used to make the EZ-dig-r made clip on extensions for stands. But sadly he has passed away. He made some great tools. Bill knows who I'm talking about. You can search ez-dig-r for some pictures.

Yeah Stan gave me a set of those extensions and they worked well. Wish Stan was still here. He made some great detector tools and acessories. Talk about heart - he was still out detecting as he was dying, sitting on the stool he built with wheels and a rack to carry his oxygen bottle. I miss the old boy. He was a retired engineer. Garrett should have hired him. HA.

Thanks for the info. I lay it on its side for today, just the way its gonna B for a while, until I have really get a motivated and think of some way to remedy this . But for now The ATpro is like a new girlfriend , and Ican deal with it . Thanks for the info on ez -dig-r and stan . Amazing what Uncle Willy has to offer to this site . He has lost more then i will probably find " but thats what keeps us going"

I put the stand extension on the back burner because another product is taking off. So do not bend your stand right now. I just didn't think there was that much interest in the stand? But I worked out the problems with my stand tonight. Look for it soon. It's made out of 6061 aluminum!

I bought these 3/4" CPVC fittings at Ace Hardware, I already had to pipe...
I used some of that Fusion paint for plastic.

Very nice BJ. As good or better than the ones now being sold on ebay. How much money do you have in it including the paint?

Well, the hell with the clothes pins:rofl: Thanks for the pics BJ and a pic with the stand on the detector would be nice . Thanks for your time and effort.

I had the pipe, the fittings were like $10,,, the paint don't have a price on it, but I think it was like $5 or $6.
Chuck at Indian Nations Detectors sells stands. He is a sponsor....

Thanks again BJ for your time and others for the replies . sometimes I feel i should not ask a stupid question about detectors and related things, but then u never know, there are people who step up to the plate and will help u out and thats what make these forums what they really are .

You'll get the first working prototype for a field test. If it ever stops raining or snowing your way!
