:detecting:I'm Back! I Survived My Surgery :stretcher:

Bit of a glitch. I kept trying to post it and it keep refusing. I was quite surprised to see it go up that many times.
Mick Evans.

Wishing you a quick and healthy recovery, always enjoy your posts!

Welcome back home John. Have a fast recovery and do not try and get out there till you doctor says go.

Sorry to hear your down, but glad your doing well.
Your right about getting checked. My brother
let it go for a year. and just brushed it off hoping
it would just go away and it was to late when he
went to the doctors (Colon cancer). Expired at age 56,
I get checked every 5 year (Full exam ) plus my physicals.
Get well, and present us with some more of your finds..

Happy Resting John

elect for removal over the irradiated seeds? Just wondering since I know guys who have that have gone both ways.

The radiated seeds method is still fairly new. Not enough data to really substantiate all the claims. Possible side effect can be cancer recurrence years down the road from the radiation treatment itself. I chose the radical prostatectomy due to a high non-recurrence rate, because it has been removed. There are many choices out there for treatment. It's a personal choice, and all treatments do have success rates. Whatever treatment one chooses, the best outcome is dependent on how early it is diagnosed. The sooner, the better. One of the choices is simply to do nothing, and just monitor the PSA levels. Prostate cancer can grow very slowly in many individuals. It often times will not be the cancer that spreads that will get you, but a heart attack, stroke or other disease. The best thing to do if you get tested and are positive for prostate cancer is to talk about the various treatments available with your urologist. keep in mind also, that there are a lot of opportunists (quacks) out there, looking for desperate people willing to spend money on non-proven methods. One only has to GOOGLE cancer treatments, and thousands of treatments show up. Having worked in health care for over 20 years, I would suggest you stick with methods which have a documented successful track record of success.

I can sympathize with you, the cancer I had, removal was the only option, plus they split me open like a field dressed deer to remove a bunch of lymph nodes. On the 10th of this month I will have hit the 5 year mark of being cancer free.
Only the best of luck to you John.

Good for you JW....I remember some years back having a discussion about your CA. More people need to talk about it.

Yeah on my first colonoscopy they removed 13 polyps - thankfully all benign. Then on the next exam I was clear. I'm past due for another. That particular type of cancer can really sneak up on you.
