Detecting alone ....... or with a friend. What is your style detecting ??

I do about 25% with my friend but his specialty is around beaches now and my older Umax has trouble with the black sand. So as I'm retired, I have time for other places and that fills my other 75%.

I hunt alone....

Girlfriend went out once....

Daughter was not interested....

Don't know anyone else around Indiana, PA

I wish we got more detectorist here in Manila, Philippines considering that we were colonized by Spain for 300 years, by the Americans and Japanese.

Wish I was there! You'd have a hunting partner for sure. I may end up a bit south of you in a few years though......

When I land hunt, I do it with friends. I even water hunt with friends. BUT all my friends wade and I dive. I have a few underwater parks I will keep totally to myself. When you find where a old swim platform was in the 30's - 50's you really want a small spot like that to yourself. I have stumbled upon very old swim areas and have told others and soon everything was gone. That's not happening again. If anyone knew how long it takes to find something like that. Its like some of you relic hunters in a field. Going fast and in a pattern till you hit something and then slow down because a house or some other gathering place used to be there. If your with somebody and let them know, you want to keep that area to just yourselves or a VERY few people. Now try that underwater and find where an old church camp was or an old beach which is now in somebodies back yard. It won't be that big of area AND I have had the most unpleasant experience of a friend taking his other friends and cleaning what I found out so the signals are mostly gone.

I have met a new friend this last fall and he is a diver. I think we will work out as a team most the time. I am positive he will keep to himself. A few of the places I go to I look for new drops, But a lot of the places I discover have never been touched. When you can pick up 18 - 44 silver pieces in one dive along with 3 - 6 gold rings, LOL its hard to want to share!!!!!

I know where you go... I got my googly eye on you...:poke:

I hunted alone for many years and it seems my finds are better when hunting alone. I guess I concentrate on the signals from my detector better when I'm alone.
I have 4 buddies I got into detecting over the years and mainly hunt with one friend now as the others don't have much hunting time available.
My main hunting buddy is in his second year of detecting and has the detecting bug as bad as I do, so we pretty much are a team now.
So for me I have to say I enjoy detecting more with friends than alone.

glad you don't dive with your CZ though in a way, BUT in another way I sure wish you would try it!!!!

That would be cool Sailorman!

I just hope it's not mid-south like Mindanao or the likes...lol!

Well just shoot me a PM brother when you get here!

Could be Cebu but more possibly Davao City and even Luzon is not out of the question but with us mariners we can turn up anywhere!!! After that stint I may be in the Solomon Islands or Vanuatu. Right now the bad economy is hurting the projects funding so time will tell. You live in a beautiful country!!!

I hunt with a friend 50% of the time and it is fun that way but it seems like we are always trying to outdo each other somehow :geek:. I do seem to take my time more when I'm alone.
