Depth question for Excal user's

Just curious what the average depths are that objects are being pulled from.
Please tell what Year model and make excal you have.
I am curious if there is a difference between the new ones and old ones
I have one of the new excal 2 1000 that was made in Malaysia and i love it i find tones of stuff people miss and some of it is deep.
Most of the stuff is 2 to 6 inches very little around 12" a few time i have doug 14 to 16 inches but that was on Quarters. I hunt in dis1 /volume max/ Sens at 6-8/Thresh just a soft hum, and in am/pp for the cleaner areas to see what i can pickup deep.
Just wandering about every one else.

I have the Excal with the blue headphones, and I have very similar results.
Cal

Same here, I have on ocasion dug to 12 -14 inches but on average my finds are from 4 -10 inches Gerry

What seems to give you Excal 800 users with the old 8" BBS coil the best depth as far as sensitivity goes. A friend uses one and he's always set at max sensitivity. Even though he says it's stable I have to wonder if in high minerals he's not costing himself depth. I've found on my GT with larger coils that max sensitivity being stable still doesn't mean that's the best for max depth. Often something like 2PM will see a fringe depth coin that max will simply null out over due to running hotter and seeing too much ground matrix. I'm trying to convince him to try running it lower and he might in fact get more depth, but not having used the old 8" BBS coil I can't say for sure if it's costing him depth at max. It may be in fact that such a tiny coil (7 1/4" I think) doesn't wash targets out with the ground matrix even if you have it cranked to max. We mostly are hunting medium to high mineral fresh water beaches. I'm using the 10" Tornado on my GT in the water and Auto or around 1 or 2PM will give more depth than max, even if the machine seems stable at that. It will blind out on a target much like it's hitting iron at max at most of my sites. In fact, I've found with the 15x12 SEF coil the same to be true. Max is often perfectly stable but something well less than half sensitivity (like 1 or 2PM) will give maximum depth in my coin garden tests or by sticking a dime in the ground at a new site to check.

I run the excal II and I have to say 10" is a fair depth I am getting, of course some targets are less and some are more. In the wet/dry sand I have dug a gold ring at 15" however the tone was just a chirp and I would of never dug it except for one of those thoughts what the hey.

Hey there
ok I have a Excalibur 2 1000 bought in 2008 I get about 16-24 inches on small stuff at beach in am/pp mode very faint tones you need to listen for
sens at max and disc at one adjusting sens just a bit down for beach conditions
if you log onto my face book account you can check out some if my finds !
Good luck
