Demo finds, Both T-2 and SE....

I hear what you are saying Paul. I know not every machine can do it all, unfortunately.

As I said in another post...I'll have to try one out for myself, as we all have our own preferences. I have heard enough to be interested...and also heard enough bad things to be somewhat of a skeptic. I suppose the only real way to find out is to try one.

Wish I had a place I could rent one for a week....then I could try it out, and if I liked it...I'd buy one....as I do need and want a second machine.

My whole point of my original post I guess was the fact that on ALL of the T2 forums I have read, everyone seems to compare it to the explorer, and remark how the explorer is inferior to the T2. Just find it strange, as it doesn't seem to be compared with many other machines. Perhaps this in itself says alot about the Explorer however? :)

as I know the Explorer is a heavy sucker...coil heavy mainly.

Sure it's not very well balanced, but I guess that means little to me. As much as I would appreciate the explorer in a different package...I can live with it for the quality of the guts.

you've definitely come a LONG way from that first time I told you about the T2 I'd just bought when they first came out. I can still hear you thinking "yeah, right... just twist up another one and you can imagine whatever" when I told you it was actually faster than my C$. Me, I like a lot of diferent detectors for what they can do. Variety being the spice of life and all that stuff but each has to have an edge to come out in a certain circumstance. Just today I hunted and used the SE, the T2, and the C$ with the small coil. I DEFINITELY didn't feel like I'd brought the wrong gun for the hunt.

I'm quite sure the majority of folks here have more than one detector.

If for nothing else than a backup machine. I am sure anyone who has gone an extensive period without a detector that is in for repairs knows the value of a good backup machine. Things happen. All you have to do is scroll down on this very forum to look at the various problems that can cause you to be without a machine for a period of time.

Broken handle anyone? :)
with the explorer. IF the T2 is in fact better at relic hunting, then I won't complain. I'll just buy one. I'll have to try one out for myself so I can comment beyond what I have said here.

That being said, I would never part with my explorer...
That is EXACTLY what I thought and what I said about my Soverign GT when I got my T2... and I will keep my GT BUT... after forcing myself to use the T2 exclusively for the last month... I now know that I will never sell the T2 either. It is insanely light and easy to use once you get used to the chatter. I now can tell the chatter from the signal and it hits on WAY more targets than the GT does. In high iron ground it has a hard time locking onto a target with a steady TID but it flutters around the TID number and it is easy to tell that it is a good signal. It is a world class machine but it takes some time to become comfortable with it so if you do buy one be ready for a rough time to begin with if you hunt in mineralized ground.

Hi Wess,

Another good relic detector is the MXT fitted with the 6X10" DD coil, If for some reason the T-2 doesn't work well for you try out the MXT........Both designed by Dave Johnson.

I have an MXT and it comes close to the T-2 on separation and gets the same depth, Both good detectors to use for relic hunting. As long as the MXT is fitted with the 6X10" DD coil the separation will be there, The 950 concentric coil slows down the recovery speed on the MXT.

I SEEN MORE BREAK THAN ANY OTHER DETECTOR OUT THERE. BROKEN LOWER ROD ANY ONE? WHERES MY DUCT TAPE? TORN ROTATOR CUFF ANY ONE? NO WARRANTY ANY ONE? MUST BE FUN PAYIN FOR REPAIRS.

other than a weak attempt at stirring the pot.

It pays to read the entire conversation before making a post that makes you look foolish.

In case you missed the posts above, my comments about the T2 and broken handles was in response to someone else's jab at minelabs quality. My point is simply that all machines have the potential to have problems. Especially if you are a serious detectorist who puts their machine through a lot...ie...hunting in the woods, etc.

Personally I have put my explorer through some serious use, and have never broken a shaft. Do they wobble? Yep. Although this can be fixed with a simple little shim. Mind you, we shouldn't have to do this to a new machine....but it is what it is. Again, my point was that it sucks to be without a machine when you have to send one in for repairs, and the explorer AND the T2(believe me, I know folks have had problems with various things breaking on the T2) both obviously have these issues at times...as does pretty much any machine out there.

Not sure where you are going with your point about "no warranty". The explorer doesn't have an extensive warranty obviously (2 years), and the T2 has a 5 year warranty...which is nice. Warranty or no warranty, it's still a royal pain to send in your machine, as it's time you are without it...another point I was trying to make, that was obviously overlooked by you.

You conveniently ignored the majority of my posts and their content, and focused in on anything you could turn into a negative. Now if you have something intelligent and helpful to add to the conversation, I'd be glad to hear it.

You may also want to refer to my post on the minelab forum recently. My XS had to be sent in for repairs due to hunting in some major rain, as did my buddies machine. So I sent them both in at the same time. Neither machine is under warranty, by a lengthy period of time.

Conclusion...BOTH machines were virtually replaced, and many extra's thrown in, along with overnight shipping. Total cost for both machines, labour, parts, and shipping included...not a penny. Free.

Anything else you'd like to add??

Now you said This:

"In case you missed the posts above, my comments about the T2 and broken handles was in response to someone else's jab at minelabs quality."

Now where did you see someone taking shots at minelabs Quality? I think the only complex is in your own mind, or is it being paranoid!

Funny you knew to respond...I didn't even mention you, yet it's obvious you knew I was speaking of your post...

"She couldnt have been to good to you......since your lookin for something else!"

Not hard to read between the lines there bud.

And what would I have to be paranoid about exactly? *haha*

Once again...if you have nothing useful to add to the conversation...carry on. I don't have time to be dragged into a spitting contest with someone I don't know on an internet forum.

Let's put this behind us and not act like those on the TD forum :)

No one is at fault here, Just a misunderstanding which easily happens.........It's only plastic that goes beep :)

I never once said anything about the quality of the explorer.....If you got that from my post.....Then wow, I rest my case you are paranoid. All I was saying if she has been so good to you why look else where....if you need a backup buy another explorer.

HEAR TO CAUSE TROUBLE? ITS CLEAR BY ALL THIS HE FITS IN OVER THERE LIKE HAND IN GLOVE :biteme:

n/t

why not buy another explorer??

Wow...everyone you know that has multiple machines, have the same machines hanging in their closet?? Personally I see no point of having TWO explorers. I want one for a backup, as well as something that offers something different than the explorer. Makes sense to me.

And yes, I am paranoid...you are right. Thanks for straightening me out

Obviously you are not able to be civil...so I won't bother responding to future messages from you.

Happy Hunting.
