Demo finds, Both T-2 and SE....

Here are some demo finds made with the Explorer SE and T-2, The T-2 recovered more finds and did it covering the same path the SE went through.

Last night, After getting permission to search a demo with a friend, We used our Explorers and covered every square foot from the scraped road area. Denny with his XS and I used my new SE, Luck wasn't on Denny's side last night so he didn't recovery any coins, I did get two coins one of them an old pool hall token the other an 188? V-nickel and some bits and pieces of trash.

Today, Took my T-2 and searched the same ground we covered last night. It was like a whole new ball game with the T-2 hitting on targets missed by both our explorers, Targets everywhere.

Managed to get a barber dime, 5 wheat pennies, an old eagle button, another button and some more bits and pieces of conductors not in the picture. And I left a bunch more signals behind and will be going back tomorrow after work, Same ground we covered last night and we didn't miss a square foot.

My Explorer SE and my XS do extremely well on deep turf park silver but for relic or demo hunting the T-2 hands down is the best, Amazing how much we missed with the Explorers and my SE does have a faster recovery speed over the XS but not as fast as the T-2.

Later in the near future, I'll share more about this site with the history side of this old ground.

Excellant Paul!

I used to sell Minelab when I lived in Oregon so I'm pretty familiar with the Explorers.

Your not saying an $800 detector is better than, or even up there with, a $1200 detector... are you? We are talking 50% more cost!

:yikes:

Thanks Eddie,

To be honest, I love my Explorer SE but for deep park silver only. Not that my T-2 will not detect as deep as the SE which it will and maybe even deeper but the Explorer shines best on deep park silver, The T-2 hands down is the best relic/demo machine out there.

I love them both for different reasons :)

In all honestly, The T-2 is under priced for the incredible performance it shoots out.

Amazing machine, It'll be hard to improve on this jewel :)

Thanks again, Paul (Ca)

Thanks Frank,

I've owned the Explorer XS since 2000 when they first came out, This machine wiped out the last remaining herd of silver coins from all parks nation wide. What's left now are the tough ones but still possible to get an old silver or two once in a blue moon.

The SE does have an edge on the older explorer models, Not much but enough for an edge. My main machine is still my T-2 and the SE comes in second.

Thanks again, Paul

My silver coinage went way up when I started using the T2 in parks. Maybe the Exp would be slightly better for that use but I don't think it would be worth the extra $400 plus the added weight and the loss of small gold detection (I've also found gold jewelry with the T2 that I don't think an Exp would see at all.)

EC

The loss of small gold on the Sovereign and Explorer models does happen, That is one of it's weakest areas as were the T-2 hits on the smallest conductors with ease.

Good to hear you very successful hunting parks with your T-2, That's an area I'd like to venture into with my T-2 and maybe the all-metal feature may give me what I need.

I've been using my T2 since they first became available and I'm still learning about its ins and outs as I go along. Plucking silver from 7-9 inches below old, pounded parks is getting to be routine (not bad for our hot Southern Calif. ground I think). And, now I'm working on going deeper. If the T2 can easily sniff silver dimes at 8+ inches with good ID, it ought to be able to find quarters and halves even deeper.

And, I've hardly used all-metal mode much at all yet!

I'm sure the Explorers are fine detectors and I was thinking of getting one myself soon. But, there's that rumored new Fisher machine due out next month ...

What's a boy to do?

I check out this forum from time to time as the T2 has interested me somewhat since it's release.

I have not used one...and I've considered buying one to try out I haven't yet, as I have heard many complaints about interference, and other problems with the detector.

Now, that being said...my main detector is an Explorer.

I can understand the excitement of a new detector, etc...but consistantly I see folks here comparing the T2 to the Explorer...and I'm amazed at how often the explorer comes up on this forum...mainly in the context that it is an inferior machine to the T2.

Again, I have never used a T2...but know the explorer well, and it's an excellent machine in the right hands. Is the T2 in fact better? Couldn't tell you...but it just seems like there is a bit of an inferiority complex here when it comes to the explorer!?

Hello Weiss,

Not any detector can do it all, Like many folks here on the forum I've bought and used allot of detectors. Some better than others and a few machines stand out above the rest.

The explorer is an amazing machine, Maybe the best on the planet for deep turf silver such as old schools and parks. Even an excellent relic detector and I've been using the Explorer since 2000 when they first landed on our soil, Hands down "in my opinion" the best detector for deep silver.

Now the T-2, in my opinion is the best relic detector. Works circles around the Explorer on relic hunting but does not fare as well as the Explorer on park silver. Mainly because of the T-2 14 kHz enhances the smaller bits and pieces of conductors to read as a deep coin fooling the T-2 user more so than the Explorer user.

For relic hunting the 14 kHz helps the T-2 excel and the DD coil makes it even better with a lighting fast recovery speed, I use both for certain hunting conditions and love them equally for different types of hunting.

Both detect as deep maybe even the T-2 having an edge, And yes the T-2 does encounter interference problems sometimes and usually within the city limits.

For me, after now using the perfectly balanced T2 for a couple months, I find it hard to go back to the "coil heavy" Fishers. I'm sure the Explorer would be a similar transition...

The T2 is far better at relic hunting from what I have read and the Explorer is great for parks and schools. So why not own each one!

Bill you have converted and that is good to be open to new products. I know you were in the fisher camp but nothing wrong with being loyal to a few detectors. I respectt that..thanks

But, the T2 came through & gave me 3 things I always wanted in my digital Fishers. Trigger, big DD coil, & great balance. Plus I have 2 real different frequencies to work with now @ 13khz & 6.5khz.
So, I think the T2 & my Coinstrike/Edge combo are a super 1-2 punch. A CZ hangin' on my wall is not a bad back up to have either! :) Plus, don't forget First Texas now owns Fisher so it's not like I completely switched allegence ;)
I can't wait to see the new Fisher......
HH,
Bill

That is what Paul is saying more money doesn't mean a better machine.

with the explorer. IF the T2 is in fact better at relic hunting, then I won't complain. I'll just buy one. I'll have to try one out for myself so I can comment beyond what I have said here.

That being said, I would never part with my explorer...
