DD loop

recently got my v3i...getting false signals at the end of swing when loop comes to the end of swing cycle and returning in the opposite directions..have seen others reporting the same problems...some say this is normal for the DD..while others have sent the loop back to whites...any thoughts...gene in delaware

Just test the coil. You also haven't given any information other than you are getting a false.

Proper procedure calls for you to come to a complete stop at the end of each swing which many of us do not do, but try it and see if that helps. It depends on your swing speed and how abrupt your change in directions is that might be jaring the windings at the end of each swing.

Even the introduction videos showing Whites personnel swinging the V3i doesn't exhibit any purposeful stop at the end of the swing direction of the coil. It is very seldom that I've ever seen a video of the V3i in professional hands where there is that obvious stop. Just an honest observation. martin

Yes Martin, that is exactly what I said............ "which many of us do not do"............... I suggested he try it to see if the falsing stops. If it does, he might want to modify his swing. DD style coils are known to be more prone to falsing than concentric because of the way they are made.

I have never had that happen with any "good" coil no matter how I swing. Does it false when bumped? Definitely take the advise here and test it as you will but.....

I have gone through honing my swing style, so I do certainly understand your advice. One thing I recently discovered with my v3i, is that salt compensation set to ON, really quieted mine down. I've been predominently testing/hunting my own property since it's been so blamed hot, and I KNOW my ground has not seen any fertilizer since I moved here in 1987, so logic told me that salt compensation wasn't needed here in N. Dallas. I was obviously mistaken, because the recent change to SC being on has made a dramatic difference in the quietness of my V. Unless there is a down-side negative effect for running salt compensation, I'd try running it if I had much noise. I hardly ever get beeps when I bump the tall vegetation now, and I don't get it on the non stop swing style. I am running a 6x10DD, not the 10"DD, so that helps right away.

It is still slightly misleading IMO when you watch even the instructional videos directly from Whites, showing non stop swinging in their introduction video for the new machine. That was my point. martin
