Day one back on the Etrac

Call me crazy and many have LOL, but I went from the CTX back to the Etrac.

And I'm lovin it!

Went to a few older spots near me and was lucky to get a few keeper on the day.

dug the LC in the first 10 minutes of hunting and the capped bust dime toward the end.

The dime was an iffy signal and was bouncy. Showed around 7-8 inches. was only about 5 or so. Came up 01-31, 12-35. etc.

Thanks!. I loved the simplicity of the machine, Stock coin pattern, Auto +3, your settings, and off I go. I don't even need to noise cancel.

Listen for that sweet high tone (yes to me not having that tone on the CTX was a big deal for me).

With the CTX I was always driving myself crazy with ( all those modes, ground coi/ferrous coin/high trash/open screen/dicrimination. It became too much to mess with.

When I had the CTX I don't think I ever found anything the Etrac woudn't have been able to find or "see". Actually it seemed when my buddy hunted with his etrac, he always seemed to walk about with more keepers then me.

Sorry it's not a very scientific explanation.... But the Etrac is all I need.

you know I thought long and hard about upgrading to the CTX this summer, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized I did not need one. The etrac is a proven power house. I sit and look at my 2012 finds and I know that I do NOT need a CTX, I just do not think it will help me find more, or help me enjoy this hobby anymore than I do now. I know my etrac well, have confidence in its abilities, and that to me is priceless, I will save my money for now.

Very nice coins! WOW!

You just have to look at the number of finds posted on the E-trac forum compared with the CTX and other forums to know you are in the right place.

I also had an CTX 3030 and went back to the E-trac. I think the E-trac has a sweeter silver warble. Also I thought the CTX 3030 was bulky even though well balanced it was harder for me to swing than the E-trac. I guess I am the only one to say that or admit it,But I guess every ones arm and shoulder is different.

that was my main complaint about the CTX, I used my buddies for 2 hours and my forearm was aching, I could not believe how back heavy and unbalanced it felt to me. I also noticed the tones are not the same as the etrac, why in the world would minelab make the tones different??

I have an ETrac as well and I love it. I don't see ever needing another deterctor, unless they come out with one that works like an XRAY and shows you exactly what's under your coil (that would be cool). It just doesn't make sense that as soon as everyone got to where they are completely comfortable with the ETrac, Minelab came out with a detector that you have to completely start all over with. They should've stayed on the same track they did with the Explorer series and just made an ETrac II instead.

Awesome finds! Like some others I own both. Prefer the CTX, but thats just me. The Etrac is easier to swing for me. I do believe the Etrac will find everything the Ctx can. So it really is a preference and how you like to hunt. I would say TOP 2 coinshooters out there. #1 and #1a- in no particular order!

I see a lot of talk on the ctx forum, but not a lot of finds.
Maybe everyone is still getting familiar with the machine.
If I want to see finds, I always jump to the E- Trac forum,
or the explorer forum.

You're right about that!!! I had that feeling when I found a Seated Half Dime this past summer.

Those are real nice coins you found fsdigital12! Congrats! Just wondering why the capped dime was hitting in the 30's Conductive. Is it thinner than a more modern dime? Perhaps it was orientated on edge? Thanks, and again... way to go!

I use the CTX on multitone and it sounds close enough to the etrac for me. Those are some good finds! Love the silver.

I never sold my E track when the CTX 3030 came out, I hung onto it and I'm glad I did the CTX 3030 will find some coins the E track won't find in conducting mode but put it in two-tone ferrous and you can save yourself 1000 bucks. I could go on and on about this but to be nice I'll just say.... Man I love my E track :clapping:

I had the same thoughts and agree completely...

I saw many issues written about the CTX on "its" forum when I was looking and have not seen any other forum posting as many finds as the E-trac forum does. Combine all of this with the facts that I would have had to take a step backward from my beloved SunRay probe, you cannot use third party coils and the un-necessarily high cost for the CTX in it's current form and that was enough to turn me off. My E-trac was "HOT" this summer. My brother-in-law and I cleaned up!! I didn't want to trade for an unknown and am glad I didn't.
