Wasn't expecting this, but after being told that a Viking axe head and shield boss (both iron) had been found nearby took a chance on digging a few iron targets, needs a better clean as your seeing it as found, and dating, only had a couple of hours this morning so guess where im going tomorrow!!

Looks interesting enough, Viking pieces are as rare as hens teeth. I was fortunate to find a beautiful bronze ladder of life strap end so I know the excitement you feel. Good luck on your next outing!

Watch a friend dig what I was certain a piece of barn tin. Turned out to be a rare porcelain sign..

That is really interesting. Is their anyone you can take it to to help determine what it is? A Viking dagger would be a once in a lifetime find.

Well I did try a couple of groups on Facebook but gave up, it was called everything from a mower blade to a tent peg, its soaking at the minute then it'll be a trip to the museum.
