D2 Legs

Anyone ever figure out why the legs look like they belong to a different detector? Are they meant to use when leaning it on a wall? Was there a design mistake? Thanks!

Well Charlives, let me explain this to you. The rudimentary XP legs are just vestigal limbs. The machine has evolved over the eons and the legs are no longer needed. The species we see roaming around today doesn't need to have the controler on the shaft. You wear it on your arm, or ear, or in your pocket. When you get a diggable signal, no need to gently place your XP detector on a nice piece of level ground, you just toss the XP machines out of your way as there is no expensive controller that can break. The legs no longer serve any purpose what so ever. ;)

Just a poor design on their part.

Something that should have been corrected loooong ago! especially when their Deus 2 came out.

Well I corrected mine a couple years ago by adding a well known armrest to a piece of whittled down hardwood I painted black. Got the armrest off flea bay for abt. 20 bucks. Berry pleased now.

it wasnt designed by xp it was designed by regtons staff at the company in the uk the xp main dealers in uk
Thanks, targits. There must be some reasoning for the design I'm missing...it's been years and two detectors now, they would have surely changed the design by now if it wasn't what they wanted...no?

I extended mine out and down about 1 1/2 " with a 50 cent dark grey pipe hanger cut in half (one for each side). Colored them black with a Sharpie. Works great and looks great. Total weight is about 1/2 ounce, I definitely need to learn how to send pics. My apology.

Yeah, you wouldn't need much more length, I guess many people made a work a round.

I built a pretty elaborate one for my Deus 1,
On my Deus 2 I used a 5" piece of PVC and two caps and Zip tied it to the feet.
Works fine.

The clamp does not bother me in any way. It might depend on how one sweeps there coil and what they have on there belt.
