D2 Coil Battery Going Flat Fast

The Coin Magician

Well-known member
How long does the D2 coil battery last when not in use. I have noticed the coil needs re charging more often the the D1 Coils did . I think the coil even when not in use discharges the battery
faster than the D1 ever did.

Mines done that I went out got to my spot forgot to check everything and my coil was dead!
I had not used it in about a month I heard 6 hour run time???
Not sure though.

My 11" coil appeared to discharge quickly, but found out it was not charging properly. XP replaced with a new coil. No problems since.

Run time is 12 hours, 8 hours in deep HC or diving. Not sure how long they can sit and still have decent life. The battery life is indicated on the RC.

Also…I realize that I’m more “persnickety” than a lot of people but when I’m driving 45-60 minutes to a site I make sure my equipment is charged and with me. Nothing worse than dead or missing equipment. I met up with a friend of mine who drove 45 minutes to our site and he has the WS6 master. It was dead because he didn’t think about it. If I didn’t have my WS6 with me (and charged) he would’ve been digging holes for me. Anyway, if anyone has more insight on the shelf life it would be useful but I always set everything on the chargers the night before every time.

Please keep in mind lithium batteries typically last longer when not run down below 10% to 20%. And they should be store at around 60% to 70%. Immediately recharging to 100 and letting then sit is not the best for long life. I just try to recharge the evening before a planned outing.

If I plan on a hunt of more than a couple of hours, and if it's been a week or so since charging, I definitely top it off prior to the hunt. I know this doesn't answer the question.
After seeing this I do plan on testing the battery storage time.
All I can say for sure is that I did a hunt almost a year ago that lasted 6 and a half hours without cutting the machine off. The hunt was in DHC exclusively. The coil battery didn't go dead, but it was on the last bar. DHC makes a big difference.

My batteries held the charge all winter. I made shure they were only partly charged. I keep a spare charger cord in my truck. In the summer I sometimes plug in my gear if driving 45 min to my favorite hunting spots
