CTX vs Etrac weight

I did try shortening the staff and it didn't work. As far as others, I have heard from them through private messages. They have not posted here.

Hope the Deus works out for you. It is supposed to be an awesome detector. Good Luck.

Plus, they listen to their customers and upgrade the software to protect against the machine becoming obsolete.

Since you made three consecutive posts, similar in context, I thought I would add my two-cents......Both the XPDeus and CTX3030 are good detectors, manufactured by reputable companies. However, I think you are confusing updates with upgrades. In fact, I think you will find that XP's philosophy is similar to what we have seen with Minelab........

"Implementing new features requires careful consideration to ensure they are implemented in a well thought out fashion and integrate well into the existing,,,,,,,structure".

more from the XPDeus forum.....The "sub-versions" that have been made available to XP Deus owners have been "less performance related and more "other" related". The sub-versions will address subtle issues that are found through far more extensive field trials......http://www.findmall.com/read.php?83,1955744,1955744#msg-1955744

and from the XPDeus website....Version 3.0 implemented >10 new improvements. .....Version 3.1 fixes some points of the 3.0 update......... Version 3.2 fixes some points of the 3.1 update.

I can't speak for the development process surrounding the XPDeus. But I do know that the CTX3030 underwent extensive testing throughout the development that exceeded what has typically been accomplished by others. During that lengthy process, many updates AND upgrades were made to the product. When a few folks discovered a sensitivity issue while using it in SeaWater, Minelab immediately responded with an update for SeaWater. Other than that, and a software tweak regarding the Li-Ion battery, the CTX3030 has not required updates to correct things that were not addressed during development. The Navigation didn't require an update.....target signal audio didn't require an update.... the headphone volume adjustment didn't require an update.....etc...http://www.findmall.com/read.php?83,1932269,1932269#msg-1932269

As to being Truly Wireless....don't forget to buy the accessory antennae (e.g. coax cable) for the coil, if you are going to submerge it. And when you're dunking that coil, don't forget the detector housing and headphones are not waterproof.

I have an Excalibur so I don't ever intend to dunk the Deus. I never intended to dunk the CTX either. I just didn't trust the design and then the multiple leak complaints that followed confirmed my fears. If you're going to develop a water proof machine, don't design a battery package that has to continually be removed to recharge it. I think the "so called" engineers need to sue their respective colleges for a refund on their degrees.
They had a proven design in the Excal battery and in the E-trac frame. Had they really been "thinking" about it, they could have incorporated the Excal style battery into the CTX package for for proven "dunk resistance" and, also, the ergonomically friendly E-trac frame into the CTX instead developing a ProSwing harness to compensate for the faults of the package and spending untold funds to move away from proven tech. Again, they need to sue their colleges.
We had already paid a high price for a machine that shouldn't cost what it does and then to have to buy more accessories to make it user friendly? I've found that CTXs have lost a ton of value when it comes to trade-ins. If anyone is thinking about, now is probably the time before the market is saturated. Screen issues, unbalanced weight, a poorly designed removable "waterproof" battery (people are even using a rubber band to get a good seal), easily breakable battery latches, a sharp edged lower shaft that can cut into the coil cable and other user can definitely add to this list, I know that for a fact. MineLab needs to go back to the drawing board and really rethink this next time before a machine like this is ready for market.

I am a MineLab lover and have owned 4 of their high end machines and so, for me to switch, was a really heartbreaker.
